“New York, New York.” is a song by German recording artist Nina Hagen from her album Angstlos. Produced by Giorgio Moroder and Co-written by Hagen, Karl Rucker and Steve Schiff, it was released as the album’s lead single in 1983. “New York, New York” debuted on the US dance chart on January 21, 1984. After spending thirteen weeks on the chart the single peaked at #9.

What a fun track this was, and still is. It sort of became the anthem at a club also called New York here in Munich. I still have the 12”, I also have the album on vinyl. What a shame that “Angstlos” ist still not available on CD, not in German. I guess this goes to prove that the prophet is wothout honor in his own country. Nina Hagens music deserves better than this.
