New Order – Murder (Belgium 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984

A. Front

“Murder” was British band New Order’s eighth single and their second and last exclusive single for Factory Benelux. Released in May 1984.

Both tracks are instrumentals. Murder features samples of dialogue from the movies “2001: A Space Odyssey” and “Caligula”. It was originally recorded in Winter 1982 during the sessions for the band’s second album Power, Corruption & Lies.

Peter Saville’s cover art is a “night-time” version of the “Thieves Like Us” cover, and is also taken from Giorgio de Chirico.

Produced by New Order, and originally recorded at Britannia Row Studios.

Peaking at #92 of the UK singles charts, it was the only single not entering the Top 75.

After all this years TLU (Instrumental) still sounds fantastic!
But the real surprise to me is Murder, it sounds so New Order-ish 🙂

Whoa Paul!! I am thrilled that you’ve ripped another New Order track. I also thrill to the fact that it has sampled dialog in it. And the “Thieves Like Us” instrumental is here as well. Tremendous stuff (as usual!) Paul. Thanks.

Jeff

Love NO and can’t ever get too much of them! Of course their record of having the highest selling 12″ of all time shall never be surpassed. For that reason alone they are the kings of the 12″!
