BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989
“Fine Time” is a song by New Order released in 1988 and the first single from their 1989 album Technique. The B-side “Fine Line” is simply the A-side without Bernard Sumner’s vocals.
On the naming of the track, Stephen Morris said, “my car had been towed away and I had to remind myself to go and pay the fine. I just wrote “Fine Time” on this piece of paper to remind myself to go get it and thought, that’s a good title.”
In the U.K. the single peaked at #11. “Fine Time” was a major club hit in the United States where it reached #2 on the Billboard Dance chart.
The song was recorded in the Mediterranean Studios, Ibiza.

I think there might be an error… The album version appears to be included om here twice. I got six tracks when I Downloaded this. Had me confused. Am I right?

i don’t really like this song, and the album was way too commercial for my tastes.
some of the remixes were good though.
i actually like the b-side better than the actual song.
fine time is just an instrumental experiment that doesn’t really
fit in with the new order classic sound.

A fantastic addition to your New Order discography on BTG. Much underrated single. Terrific mixes, nice of Silk to stick close to the original version. Very cool pills cover artwork.
I got two copies of the EU 12″ https://www.discogs.com/Neworder-Fine-Time/release/417841
which doesn’t have the Silk mixes.
One of them is still SEALED! Now it will stay sealed for sure 🙂
FYI – on the 24 bit download the 3rd track is tagged as ‘Fine Time (Silk Mix)’ not the correct ‘Fine Line’. Not sure if this is true for the other two.
Same on the 16bit version. Also, Fine Line is missing from the further up posted tracklist.
It’s a mistake I was pretty tired by the time I got around to tagging the files. Anyway it’s all good now I have re-uploaded the files with the correct tags. Thanks guys for letting me know 🙂

Everyday it seems that my record collection is appearing before my eyes (and ears) on your site Paul. I just loved this. And wasn’t this style of music called Balearic beat?
