BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987
R.I.P. Natalie Maria Cole (February 6, 1950 – December 31, 2015) was an American singer-songwriter, and actress. The daughter of Nat King Cole, she rose to musical success in the mid-1970s as an R&B artist with the hits “This Will Be”, “Inseparable”, and “Our Love”. After a period of failing sales and performances due to a heavy drug addiction, Cole re-emerged as a pop artist with the 1987 album Everlasting and her cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac”. In the 1990s, she re-recorded standards by her father, resulting in her biggest success, Unforgettable… with Love, which sold over seven million copies and also won Cole numerous Grammy Awards. She sold over 30 million records worldwide.
On December 31, 2015, Cole died at the age of 65 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, due to congestive heart failure. Natalie we will miss you.

Thank you very much Paul
I remember dancing to this in the clubs…so much fun! Thanks for this posting. I still can’t believe she’s gone! 🙁
Thanks Paul. 🙂
Thank you very much for this post. I miss her and I miss her voice. It really sucked that she wasn’t given the proper tribute at the Grammys. Thanks again Dj PaulT. 🙂
Such a shame that the Grammy awards didn’t give her a proper tribute. I don’t think I will watch it next year. It’s become so corporate.
Saw the slide show at the Grammys with all the great artist that past away in the last 12 months,
so many of them, really sad!
Jump Start never was so exposed as Pink Cadillac, so I was even more surprised how good this song actually is, after all this time, and how terrific and well sounding this mixes are!
I agree Davos very nice mixes 🙂
Always living in the shadow of her great father, she still did some great music..
Thanks Paul.. 🙂
You’re welcome Ex15 🙂
Another artist who left us far too early. I remember hearing this single on the radio back then, so i’m looking forward to hearing your superior sounding rips.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Junior 🙂
I know time takes it’s toll on all things, but it’s really shocking how many greats have been lost in the past couple of months. Like her father, she was a real class act. While she established herself as a standards singer, I will always remember, in particular, her soul/disco music from the 70’s very fondly.
She was indeed a class act 🙂
It really is so touching these tributes you’re posting of artists we have recently lost. Thank you Paul for so beautifully bringing back lovely twelves by these great performers. I am so looking forward to this when I get home this evening. I’m sure you’re making fans of Ms. Cole so very happy and I’m sure she knows what care you take when it come to her back catalog.
Jeff
You’re welcome Jeff. This tribute is overdue.
Hi Paul, There is a problem with the 24 bit flac link 😉
