My younger sister was a HUGE Menudo fan back in the 80s. When we were on a cruise in ’86 and visited San Juan she had me skip the usual excursions and tourist attractions and take her to nearby Hato Rey to the Menudo fan headquarters store. She was in heaven. But now that I think about it, it probably wasn’t smart to take a cab to an unknown neighborhood in a foreign land.
Cool post!
Here in Brazil Menudo also was a huge success. I loved their romantic song “If you’re not here by my side” (not sure if its the name of the music). Thks for the post, Paul.
You’re welcome Fernando 🙂
Checked out a youtube original video by them, got the impression they were singing to Leif Garrett. Adjusted the quality and there it was : a girl.
The Leif-association made more sense though:-)
Woohoo! I’ve been waiting for this one since you posted Hold Me … 2? years ago? Haha, time flies man! Thank you for this!
And Gilbert’s right! They were HUUUGGGEE here back in the day. They even have a couple of songs in Tagalog if I’m not mistaken. Till the next 12″ Paul! 😀
Very cool Santi enjoy!
Hi Paul; I don’t recognize Ricky Martin in the sleeve picture. By the way, Roby Rosa is a very respectable musician and songwriter. I love his ’94 album “Frío”.
Hugs
Yeah Ezequiel Ricky was not in the group at this time 🙂
Whoa…and…Wow!! This is one amazing post and I agree with everything that was mentioned by Gilbert Gonzales. This definitely puts a smile on my face also. Please tell me you also have another of their hit single “Explosion”. 😉 🙂
Thank you, thank you Dj PaulT!
Hi MusicdivaSF the only other 12″ I have is “You Got Potential” I will look for “Explosion” though 🙂
Here in South America, Menudo is considered very bizarre. 😀
Love this one! Thanks…
You’re welcome Just Me 🙂
Sorry, Paul… I saw the title of this one and immediately started thinking Supertramp instead… 🙂
Yeah it’s an easy one to mix up 🙂
OMG!!!! Menudo was so popular in the Philippines that they kept going back there! Love Like A Cannonball! They had a lot of dancey songs on their English album Reachin’ Out released i think in 1984! Thanks Paul for making me smile today. I really need that!
You’re welcome Gilbert. I’m smiling just knowing that you are 🙂
Como seu trabalho é fantástico, perfeição nos mínimos detalhes do seu site e seus remasters, nunca havia visto um site tão bonito, parabéns ao seu trabalho Paul, grande mestre.
