BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987
“Pump Up the Volume” is the only single by British recording act M|A|R|R|S. Recorded and released in 1987, it was a number-one hit in many countries and is regarded as a significant milestone in the development of British acid house music and music sampling. The song derives its title directly from a lyrical sample from “I Know You Got Soul”, a hit single by labelmates Eric B. & Rakim, released months prior in that same year.
The single was the product of an uneasy collaboration between electronic group Colourbox and alternative rock band A R Kane, two groups signed to the independent label 4AD. The link-up was suggested by label founder Ivo Watts-Russell after the two groups had independently sounded him out about the possibility of releasing a commercially oriented dance record, inspired by the American house music that was starting to make an impact on the UK chart. When the M|A|R|R|S project was first released early in 1987, the popularity of the style of the song had already started to grow.

First, “Beat Dis” and now “Pump Up The Volume!!” Oh, be still my heart!!! Paul, you are so unbelievable. This is my sort of music. Half the fun of these records is trying to find out the original records that make up the beats and grooves. This song was so creative and so many people couldn’t resist the rhythm. At long last. This site has been crying out for this! I’d so appreciate other 7 and 12 inches of M/A/R/R/S: Pump up the volume. There’s a plethera of mixes would be absolutely amazing to have them all in one place and in the BTG quality! I’ve discovered so many versions over the years. When i think i have them all, another seems to turn up on a compilation CD. I lost track of how many i have many years ago. Thank you so much for this one. This is one of my 12-inchers which has sadly been warped, I still have it, but have been reluctant to try any retrieval method thus far 🙁 (You don’t happen to know of a tried and tested method of reducing vinyl warping do you?).
I was well into this type of stuff back in the day, well…I still am really.
There are many methods Bryan. A quick Google search will bring up many of them. I heard putting the record between two pieces of glass and putting it in the sun may work but never tried it 🙂
Decades ago lot of people got used to the heat of their then new automatized radiator-heating-systems and it came along with stuff they forgot to take of the radiator. 45’s and elpees were famous for that .. I have never met anyone who had one restored so that i could not hear it. The grooves were melted as well mostly.

and make a clock, or a bracelet, a new version of SpinTheBottle of the carrier. I am sorry.
