Excellent post, Paul! Thank you!
Gary Barnacle, probably the more wanted new wave sax player of his time, sessionist with The Clash, The Damned, The Boomtown Rats, Public Image Limited, Visage, Soft Cell, Spandau Ballet, The Creatures, David Bowie and many more to mention. Here together with brother Steve, another demanded sessionist and bass player for Visage.
Loving the posts this week so far, The Cure and now this. I am into all sorts of 80’s music, and you always post something exciting Paul, whether I’ve heard it or not. I know the name of this band, not sure if I’ve heard this song, I will check it out and post back later. Very exciting.
It’s a fun song Memoryboy. I really hope you like it 🙂
Have never heard of these guys, how did you ever find them Paul???! This track has a certain Madness vibe to it. I could imagine them turning up in an episode of The Young Ones or something (possibly the episode called ‘Cash’, lol). The Martin Rushent connection is funny coz the vocals do sound a bit Leaguey in places. I’m quite liking the other tracks they did too, after having a quick skip around YouTube. Not that I’m making a request here or anything, but do you know which other ‘lesser-known early 80s new-wave duo who only had a few… Read more »
Hi Jermajesty,
This duo only released four singles all produced by Martin Rushent I think I have now posted three of them with the fourth coming soo. I know I really do need to break out my Seona Dancing singles maybe you have put a fire under me to do it 🙂 I thought this record sounded a lot like The Associates Billy Mackenzie in parts which Martin Rushent also produced.
Yes, I also spotted some Billy Mackenzie elements. Will check out those other singles properly. 🙂
Thanks Paul. Please keep up the new wave posts.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
I am shivering in pleasure Paul!! What a gift this is!! I am so thrilled for this to be on your site. You make everything so much brighter with the music you post. Yes, it was another downer of a day, until this discovery. I love your “percussive Prozak” as it brightens my mood. This song is AWESOME and I can’t thank you enough!! All the newbies who are unfamiliar with this jam are going to love it.
You Rock!!!
Jeff
Thank you Jeff! 🙂
