BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989
“Harry Houdini” (also titled as “Arts in ‘D’ Minor/Harry Houdini”) is a song by Canadian synthpop band Kon Kan, released as the second single from their 1989 debut album Move to Move. The song did not match the success of their previous single “I Beg Your Pardon”, managing to just scrape into the top forty in their native Canada at #39. In the UK, the song reached #88. In New Zealand, the song peaked at #14 in September 1989. In the U.S. the single failed to chart.
The song contains a sample of “White Lines” by Grandmaster Melle Mel and an interpolation of Blondie’s “The Tide Is High”.

Hi, do you have version (Bass Mix) 6:44?
Thanks Paul. Only version I had was the expanded CD. 🙂
Hi DjPaulT,
Thanks very mucho, this song is a classic dance of 80’s and my favorite.
Cheers,
Milen
You’re welcome Milen 🙂
Extraordinario 12″. Muchas gracias por estos grandes recuerdos Saludos DjPaul.
You’re welcome Marceloide 🙂
thank you …waiting Liberty to complete the “saga”, thx adm..
You’re welcome Ana 🙂
Great Paul, thank you. Especially for the bonus tracks.
Funnily enough, I like the long album version best of all versions. Ooh, and talking about the album, listening to it I was reminded that the great song “It doesn´t matter” was not a b-side but just an album track.
You’re welcome Song_and_Dance. I like the 7″ edit best and the LP version 🙂
Ohhh Pault otra más de Kon Kan con pistas extras estupendo gracias.
You’re welcome Carlos 🙂
I don’t remember this single but Justin Strauss is one of my favourite remixers.
Looking forward to hearing these. Thanks Paul 🙂
Hope you end up liking it Mark 🙂
Yes, indeed the other mixes are a cool alternative to the JS remixes 🙂
That’s great! 🙂
What a good song. Thanks a lot.
You’re welcome Alberto 🙂
You are just to good to us Paul!! I just loved this song and now it’s even better due to you ripping bonus material. It’s all just exceptional. Such a fantastic song that I almost like a bit better than “I Beg Your Pardon” and only because that track was played so much. Karen and I are delighted. It’s awesome to get a twofer from you!!
Have a blast!!!
Jeff
You’re welcome Jeff and Karen 🙂 It’s a bit astonishing that this track did nothing chart-wise in the USA.
