Katrina And The Waves – Do You Want Crying (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

Written by keyboardist Vince de la Cruz “Do You Want Crying” was the foolow-up single to “Walking On Sunshine” and became a top 40 US hit reaching No. 37 in the late summer of 1985. The single also charted in the UK at No.96 and Canada at No.29.

This song has pretty much been over shadowed by “Walking On Sunshine” but in my opinion it is a great 80’s pop song that deserves to be revisited again.

Fantastic ‘Post’ ! Katrina & The Waves are/were WAY more than 1 Hit Wonders=That’s a total Insult. Que Te Quero was another great track + also had a Dance mix. The reason people Love your blog Paul’s cos you “fill in the Discography gaps”. No matter how many ‘G Hits’ collections there are they keep missing out all the B Side/12 Inch etc tracks Dummies ! These posts are gr8 coz ye can’t buy them even if U wanted too. The labels have got them soo wrong but that seems to have been there fate all along ! ?

Paul You are amazing, as always. LOVE K&TW. Always have. I remember when I first heard WOS, I actually thought it sounded like Irene Cara. To this day, that is one of my fave songs. And DYWC 12″ is a great surprise. I thought I was the only one who had that 12″. LOL. Do you have QUE TE QUIERO, IS THAT IT, I REALLY TAUGHT ME TO WATUSI, THAT’s THE WAY and ROCK N ROLL GIRL? Sorry if I came off as greedy, but your 12″ collection amazes me and I can never seem to stump you. LOL You’re… Read more »

More from K & The Waves! I have this exact 12″, and it’s always exciting to see another fellow music lover having the same item even though continents apart! But of course, I must admit the condition of my sleeve is not as crisp as your scan. LOL! Can you believe this and Walking On Sunshine are already over 25 years old!?! Since we’re on the topic of their UK 12″s, I wonder if you also have Sun Street from 1986? It was never released in the US but is their third biggest hit in the UK, following Love Shine… Read more »

Hi Paul, no worries about the delay. I’ve been very busy over the weekend myself. LOL!
And please don’t feel any pressure about not having any of the singles that I ask for. Your posts are already amazing as they are, so any favours or requests answered is really an extra bonus that comes with no obligations!
🙂

Do you have their ‘Plastic Man’ single?

A double dose of Katrina & The Waves! Excellent! “Do You Want Crying” is the forgotten Waves Top 40 hit. I never knew that an extended version existed until now! I can’t wait to download this one! 🙂

While I’m focused mostly on the music, I enjoy the sleeves of these singles, too. Always great to have them in excellent resolution, Paul! Thank you!

Dude, I’m still in awe of your photoshop clean-ups on the cover scans.

Do you use any additional plug-ins, or is it all done within CS5?

How do you get the type so crisp/flat?

Thanks for the tune too. 🙂
