Irene Cara – Why Me? (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983

“Why Me?” is a song written by Giorgio Moroder, Irene Cara, and Keith Forsey and performed by Irene Cara.

The song was the first official single to be lifted from Cara’s 1983 album, What a Feelin’, although the album also featured the worldwide number-one single “Flashdance… What a Feeling”, which had been released six months earlier.

“Why Me?” continued Cara’s run of hit singles, reaching the Top 20 on the Hot 100. It was even more successful in Australia and several European countries, where it peaked within the Top 5.

I love the works of Jellybean. His remixes for artists are a diverse one, which is great.

Cheers Paul 🙂

Thank you, Paul – love this track 🙂

Has the 7″ version/vinyl album mix ever been available on CD, I wonder? The expanded CD I bought several years ago featured the 12″ mix in place of the original album version…

Anyway, thanks again!

Yes, there are Japanese and European CD releases that did not have any extended versions.

Hurray Paul!!! I am so happy you’ve got around to posting this classic by Irene Cara! When you posted “Breakdance” by her earlier, I was reminded of this record and was hoping you’d get to it, and now that you did, I am besides myself with intense pleasure. Thank you so much for another favorite I can cross off my list! I have the CD but your rips always put the commercial releases to shame! Thanks for another ecstatic release Paul! I’ve got major goose flesh!!!

Thanks for the rip, Paul! I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song but it’s very reminiscent of The Pointer Sisters and is 100% 1983!! 🙂

Thanks for the fun song! -Fred
