BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988
“Electric Blue” is a 1987 hit single by the Australian rock / synthpop band Icehouse and was co-written by Iva Davies of Icehouse and John Oates of the U.S. band Hall & Oates. The single reached number one on the Australian singles chart on 16 November 1987, #7 on the American Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on 21 May 1988, #10 on the Canadian Singles Chart and #53 on the UK singles charts. Released in August 1987, it was the second single from their number one album Man of Colours.
John Oates became involved with Davies after contacting him to state he was a fan. The resulting collaboration produced this song and Oates has stated that if Davies had not released the song under the Icehouse name then it would have been a Hall and Oates track.
The “Instrumental” and “ST Edit” are exclusive to this U.S. 12″.

Paul, is it possible to re-upload this please? Thanks
please re-upload many thanx 🙂
Thank you very much Paul.
Thank you so much for this Paul !
I requested it a few posts ago and boy you delivered !
Plus the Hall and Oates connection just blew me away.. i had absolutely no idea.
Outstanding.
Enjoy Kaex 🙂
Thanks Paul for this rip! Oddly, it’s one I thought you had done before years back, but maybe that’s me always assuming the best from you. 🙂
Just so you know, it’s always been a toss-up for me between this and Crazy for my favorite Icehouse track, with Uniform following up from behind. I know I’ll be listening to these mixes a lot.
Goodguy there is another promo that I think I posted many years ago. It’s coming tomorrow 🙂
Thanks, Paul!
Simply huge, your last posts. Just fantastic. Crystal clear produced sound on all vinyl records. Unattainable today, unfortunately.
Thank you AHorn 🙂
I never knew about the Hall & Oates connection, It would have been cool if they would have recorded their own version then as well. I’ve not heard any of these mixes, so all the more interesting. I have always associated this song along with Glass Tiger so I thought it was pretty cool you posted this today.
Yes, like Our Lips Are Sealed by Fun Boy Three, and then Th Go-Gos. It would’ve been interesting to hear both.
I would have loved to hear their take on it too Joey 🙂
As a huge Icehouse fan I’m perfectly happy with all these posts on these days. There are 2 different 12″ mixes of “Electric blue”. Both are great but I have a slight preference for the 12″ Version remixed by Michael Brauer. Thank you so much Paul for this crystal clear rip and these exclusie mixes.
You are in for a treat tomorrow Daniel 🙂
Wooow Pault gran aporte gracias
Thank you Carlos 🙂
I must say, I’ve never heard this song before. Even after a few listens, nothing. 🙂 Interesting that it hit #7 in the USA since I was (and still am now) hugely into music, was almost out of high school, and was deejaying. Possibly this was a “rock” track that wasn’t played on the numerous pop/top40 stations in Connecticut back in the day. Or maybe it was only on the 100 list for a few weeks, shot to #7, then quickly faded. It’s just very strange that I don’t know this song. 🙂 It has a Mike & The Mechanics… Read more »
Always glad to introduce new material. This song was massive and was played often on my local top 40 station. Still get’s airplay even today on 80s stations 🙂
Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
Huge thanks and humble gratitude to you Paul for ripping this one Paul!! You’ve been so generous with these Icehouse posts and I can’t get over this generosity on your part. Whoa!! So many of us are delighted by this. Hey, is this a different version than the one you posted awhile ago? Just curious. You are so prolific with your ripping skills I sometimes find it hard to keep up with all the goodies!! You certainly dazzle me Paul!! I wish I was a poet because words fall short to describe what you do here on your site; how… Read more »
Yes Jeff different mixes the other promo is coming tomorrow 🙂
Amazing post, very nice to finally have the full Thompson & Barbiero remix package. Thanks Paul, excellent.
You’re welcome Stefano 🙂
