Disco Friday SPOOKY SEASON Edition
“Theme From Friday The 13th Part 3” is a song written by American film composer and jazz-soloist Henry Manfredini and American producer, arranger, conductor, keyboardist, and songwriter, Michael Zager. The disco-flavored theme was written for the third installment of the popular Friday The 13th film series which was filmed in 3-D. The track was performed by the short-lived disco group Hot Ice which consisted of Harry Manfredini and Michael Zager.
Complete with spooky synths a killer bass line and Jason Vorhees’s signature chi chi chi, ha ha ha. Go ahead and listen if you dare.

It doesn’t get more perfect than this! I should have known, Lol. Funny, I was thinking recently how you would probably want a new transfer of this great novelty 12 inch, and presto, here it is!! I love Jeff’s anecdote how it was the first R-Rated horror movie he saw. This wasn’t the first R-Rated horror movie for me, but it was the first horror movie I rented when we got our VCR! While too young to see it in theaters, the television ads spooked me. I always had a soft spot for this movie in 3-D (great effects) and… Read more »
Thank you for sharing your back story with the movie and song. Have a great weekend 🙂
Perfect post for today! It’s great to get your new transfer. Thank you Paul!
You’re welcome, Daniel 🙂
True story: “Friday the 13th – Part 3” was the first R-Rated horror movie I ever saw. I don’t know what was scarier, the film or my reaction! I really can SCREAM folks!! I frightened my friends and terrified the theater we were in. Great memory. I do have a problem seeing 3-D because of my bad eyesight. I kind of have to cross my eyes at certain points to see the effect. Well, enough about that. Seeing the movie really made me fall in love with its score. I thought the music was phenomenal in the way it built… Read more »
What a great story, Jeff I really enjoy it when I hear how passionate my readers are about the music I post. Have a “Lucky” weekend as well 🙂
Perfect post!!! The FRIDAY THE 13TH theme posted on an actual Friday, the 13th! You’ve outdone yourself! Thank you for this amazing track! I had no idea this version was by the Michael Zager, who discovered Whitney Houston and presented us with one of the greatest Disco songs of all time: Let’s All Chant! I often wonder which came first, the song “Let’s All Chant” or the “ooh ooh” chanting, which somehow prevailed to this day! Like, did people chant “ooh ooh” to other songs in discos and Michael Zager turned it into a song or did he start the… Read more »
You’re welcome, Martika. I remember people doing the “ooh ooh” at the dance clubs then they started blowing whistles lol 🙂
Thanks for your Great Work
