BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987
REQUEST
“Party Girl” is a single by Grace Jones released in 1986.
“Party Girl” blends pop and funk music, with an addition of Caribbean sound to it. It was released as the second single from Inside Story, an album Grace co-wrote and co-produced along with Nile Rodgers, in December 1986 in Europe and 1987 in the United States. The song was remixed by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero for single release.
The song made little impact on music charts, however, it became a top 20 dance hit in the US.

Thank you so much for this. I think those mixes are not available on CD, not to mension digital form. The extended mix is even better than album version. Oh, and the quality is superb! Thank you! Keep on doing what you do!
Glad I came back to check 🙂 as Grace usually makes my day okay.
You’re rip sounds better than my rip from my own vinyl, too.
You seem to have uncovered bass where there was little to begin with.
(Hope you’re on a grace-train rolling and rolling..want suggestions?-)
I hear Grace is working on a great new release now! She is hilarious! I hope you get to have a drink with her!
Thank you very much Paul.
Thanks for this Paul. It’s not one of Grace’s better singles, but the remixes are quite nice.
Thank you Paul! This was such an amazing album – I love it from start to finish -it’s a masterpiece – it truly deserves an expanded edition! VERY UNDERRATED!
It is such a shame that her song about White Collar Crime is neglected by most when speaking about her discography. Ever wonder why some of her personal bizznizz difficulties came after releasing that one? She is one in a few to really point things out about the industry.
(Corporate cannibal, too, great track perfectly executed, superb video.(But by now she is accepted in the game, has enough friends among the suits? Rewatch worthy anyway!)
Dirk! (Diggler!) – Miss Jones’ personal buzzing difficulties came from day one – she is a very difficult performer, promoter etc. She is MASSIVELY talented – she just never wanted to play THE GAME! To make a record work – especially back in the day – you needed to go out and promote – have you ever waited 3 hours to see her? It’s a little ridiculous – but it became her persona. I personally think she is one of the all time greats! Cheers to Grace! XO
Setting fire on stage is something not a lot of acts can write on their conto. Hardrockers, yes, punks and oys, yes, but a woman at shall I say 70..?
Warm leatherette turned very hot, ha! She rocked on though, laughed my s off.
Right from the start, someone forgot to prepare the cymbals and no sound came out of them, and GJ handled it perfectly, well almost.
Thank you so much, Paul! Your rip sounds fantastic and brings back some wonderful memories.
You’re welcome Donald. Enjoy! 🙂
Thanks Paul. I also liked Victor Should’ve Been A Jazz Musician .
You’re welcome Omar I have that one too 🙂
Thanks very much, Paul. Can never get enough Grace. Seriously, I mean never. Ever. She’s the best.
You’re welcome miran0019. I do still have more to post 🙂
Woo hoo!
Man, how I adore your Grace Jones postings Paul. I mean, like Madonna, Ms. Grace Jones is a trailblazer with many artists stealing her style. I have to get her memoir because I find her so amazing and tantalizing and extremely captivating. Your site has done so much of her discography justice. Thanks again for this single and, please, more Grace whenever you can!!
Jeff
You’re most welcome Jeff 🙂
Thank you Paul! Anytime you post Grace Jones is a good day 🙂
You’re welcome Todd 🙂
