“Fame” is a song by Jamaican singer-songwriter Grace Jones from her second studio album of the same name (1978). It was released in 1978, by Island Records as the album’s second single. Produced by Tom Moulton, “Fame” was originally part of a 20 minute medley on the “Fame” LP. On this 12″ promo “Fame” is presented in it’s edited form.
The song was not a hit on the pop charts but was huge in the dance clubs reaching the #3 position.

I recently interviewed Tom Moulton for my radio show, who worked on this roject and he said that Grace Jones was absolutely determined and forthright in her desire to be successful in music right back then. He also said that he thouht she ate a lot of red meat whilst she was making records! 🙂

I can still remember hearing ‘Saved’ (I’m no longer Depraved) for the 1st time (Hi Tom Edinburgh) And the needle ‘jumps’ to find that bit of a medley. Fab-u-lous Post [again!] Edits hold there own – I just heard the ‘Original Single Versions’ from David Bowie’s Station To Station Re-issue It’s like there ‘different’ songs altogether [if u know what I mean!] Still think she’s like a female DB to a lot of her fans and way better than a few more ‘famous’ types You can ‘Like’ So much more [ie Downloads] If you dont have to haul the Vinyl… Read more »
