Gloria Estefan And Miami Sound Machine – Rhythm Is Gonna Get You (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1987

“Rhythm Is Gonna Get You” is a song written by Enrique “Kiki” Garcia and Gloria Estefan, and released by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine in 1987 as the lead single from the album Let It Loose (and the European version of the album Anything for You).

It was their fourth top 10 (and second top-five) single on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number five. In the UK, it took a year and a half for the single to become a chart hit.

First released in June 1987 as the first single from Let It Loose, the song failed to chart; a reissue came in February 1988 after the song featured in Stakeout, once again the song failed to chart. However, after the success of the follow-up singles “Anything for You” and “1-2-3”, the song was re-released in December 1988 just before Christmas and became a UK top 20 hit, peaking at number 16 in January 1989. The song was also featured in promos for Wheel of Fortune, with lyrics changed to “Wheel’s Gonna Get You”.

Loved listening to this song again. Always one of my favorites from Gloria and MSM. they had some great songs from the album before let it loose, and I have been surprised they have not released a remastered/expanded edition yet! great songs!

Thanks, Paul! First, it’s so much better quality than the copy I have on Club Epic Vol 6 (what the hell, Sony!? The group is on your own Label and in 1987 you should have had a digital, non-vinyl master!!). Second, Club Epic cut the first few seconds off the track (why???). Third, there’s a dub!

Thanks so much again!!

THIS IS SO HOT!!! Paul, it really feels like Summer with a release such as this one! Again, you rescue the hottest records from being forgotten. I wish Miami Sound Machine would gather together a compilation of their scintillating dance cuts! Until then, we can revel in your gorgeous rips!!! Hey, fascinating reading about this song’s history. So great that the label had faith in the song to make it a hit. I wish this would have happened to so many records. Just look at all those that you’ve posted that should have become bigger than they were. So grateful… Read more »
