BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987
“Little Lies” is a song by the English/American band Fleetwood Mac. It was the third single to be taken from their 1987 album Tango in the Night. As of 2011, it is their final top 10 hit in the U.S. The song was composed by the band’s keyboard player and vocalist, Christine McVie and her ex-husband Eddy Quintela. When released, the song reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. (#1 for four weeks on the American adult contemporary chart) and #5 on the UK Singles Chart.
The single was also available on the 12-inch format, featuring an extended dance version, a dub version, and the single’s B-side, “Ricky”, a non-album track penned by Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham. A limited 12-inch picture disc was also released in the UK, and it was also the first Fleetwood Mac single to be issued on the cassette-single format.

Hello Paul, I have recently discovered your site, and I love it! I love music too, and I hate it when people post something online with an album and I find it contains 192kbps youtube rips with no tags. I found this, which is my favorite song (has been for a while), with the extended version! I love fleetwood mac, and I am listening to the 24-bit flacs right now and they sound amazing! Two are about 1500kbps and “Risky” is about 2800kbps. Thank you very much, I have tweeted in support.
Oops I meant “Ricky” not Risky lol
Paul, “Big Love” and “Seven Wonders” were issued in the cassette single format, just an FYI.
I was seisruoly at DefCon 5 until I saw this post.
Thank you!
Wonderful, Paul! Really loving the Fleetwood Mac posts.
Hi Paul Love to see that you like these Fleetwood Tracks enough to Re-Rip ’em. While I agree with ‘ric’ above about ‘resurection’ – Thats Pop as in charts ! This 12 Inch Mix ‘Promotion’ ala ‘Club Play’ shows Fleetwood Mac weren’t the ‘Precious Dinosaur’s’ That 2 many RAWK fans can be. And like INXS, U2 you name it, ‘Club Play’ can be a ‘way round’ Radio Playlists. And even if there’s a CD single of these trax, well isn’t VINYL ‘mastered etc’ differently ? And yes Andy [gr8 name lol] WAS released as a 12 Inch Mix. Not much… Read more »
Wasn’t Christine’s song “Everywhere” released on 12″ also? Thanks again for all the great music Paul. I loved the 80’s.
Yes it was in the UK but I don’t have it.
🙂
Please people donate for these amazing remastered jobs. I’ve donated earlier but did it once again. 10$ isn’t much but if more does it, then Burning The Ground will live on. Think of it folks. It is less then what an album costs and it is for a good cause.
Thank you Dejan for your appreciation of my work it really means a great deal 🙂
Fleetwood Mac is really special as a group and gave us amazing solo efforts from Stevie, Lindsey and Christine. And you’ve featured all but Christine (who doesn’t have any 12″ Mixes for her two hits..shame). Really appreciate this run of Mac & co, Paul! Little Lies is actually THE single that resurrected the success of this era, especially in the UK. Big Love did give them a decent start peaking at #9. But Seven Wonder didn’t even crack the Top 50, and the parent album had fallen as low as #28 from a peak of #4 by then. But Little… Read more »
i, too, have been delighted with all the fleetwood mac/stevie nicks posts. thanks so much!
You’re absolutely welcome Feanor 🙂
Thanks for all the Fleetwood Mac!
You’re welcome John!
BTW would you happen to have Family Man as well? I used to have that on U.K. 12″ single – pretty cool house mixes as I recall. 😉 THANKS SO MUCH.
It’s coming next to end the Fleetwood series 🙂
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!!!
Have been enjoying the thematic uploads. I find it amazing as I recall how huge this song was back then – even people who do not know who Fleetwood Mac were would also know this song. It was hard everywhere! ~ Chwee (Sg)
You’re welcome Chwee! I still hear this song often on local AC stations.
This single is worth it just for the fantastic “Ricky”. Thanks for making the best quality version of this I’ve heard yet. The other mixes are just gravy. <3
Thank you Gary. You’re welcome 🙂
Great site (as always)! Just one correction, though: “Little Lies” reached #4 on the Hot 100, not #14.
Keep up the awesome work – these mixes need to be preserved!!
Marc From Nova thank you foer letting me know about the typo I will correct it 🙂
Yeah, a quality rip of the dub version and the non-album track Ricky. Nice, nice. Good job, Paul.
You’re welcome Stefano!
Thanks!
You’re welcome Doug!
