OMG this song is so brilliant. Loved it from the first moment I heard it back in 87.
Thanks for posting Paul!

Five Star were a great pop group in the mid 80’s, I loved the remixes that came with the 12″ records and Capital Radio (UK) would often play remixes, especially 5 Star.
They had a style similar to The Jackson Five, The Pearson family did really well with chart success in the eighties and had some decent videos too”

Another fantastic post Paul!

Have you got Max Q – Sometimes 12″ and The Specials – Ghost Town 12″ Please.

Another awesome track is ‘Can’t Wait Another Minute’ which got a full US remix package on the US promo. John Morales And Sergio Munzibai did a great job here. Hope you can find the time to post that one Paul, it’s kind or rare. Only the main M+M Remix Version has been released on CD till now, I think.

Yes, the US remixes for “Can’t Wait Another Minute” and the US mixes for “Are You Man Enough?” (especially the dub mix) are very hard to get. I hope I will be able to listen to them some day.

Shep and Five Star worked ‘together’ for a few years and he remixed the following singles for them:

Find The Time
If I Say Yes
The Slightest Touch
Somewhere Somebody
Treat Me Like A Lady

I had such a blast listening to this one Paul. I am a bit familiar with Five Star, however, I wasn’t aware of this song. And, WOW, such a cool tune and so much fun, especially on a Friday night, after work, and to start the weekend. It makes me smile. You make me smile, Paul. Shep really keeps things interesting here with variety and all. It’s dance pop perfection. And of course, those edits on the dub really are stand-outs. Tuta Aquino does a nice job on the slice and dice. Ah, house music, such memories. And you do… Read more »

Their best single, but ‘Find the Time’ is coming very close. Excellent post Paul. Still find it strange it never got a US release. Such a massive song!

Thanks Paul,
I got Cherry Red’s 2010 edition of the album “Silk & Steel”
but I’ve been waiting for this 12″ for your awesome audio-quality
and for all the versions that only You could give us.
Sometimes it sounds like “Causing a commotion” remix by Madonna
(done by Shep too).
Can you tell me which of this two remixes came out first
if you know?
Respect.

The Slightest Touch was released in the UK March 87, whereas Causing a Commotion was August 87, so I’m presuming ST got the remix treatment first but who knows when the actual mixes were commissioned/completed and then held by the record companies.

Shep’s remix was far superior than the album version – I absolutely adore the 7″ remix. Shep was so in demand in 1987 and some of my favourite remixes come from that period. Janet’s ‘Pleasure principle’, Whitney’s ‘So emotional’ etc etc
