Thank you for this! I remember Kiss You All Over by this band but don’t think I’d ever heard this one.
Never heard this version before. Thanks for making it available for all to hear again.
You’re welcome, Johnny 🙂
This beginning reminds me of Kiss’ only Disco Hit (and IMHO their best song) “I Was Made For Loving You”, but with a touch of space synth! Definitely never heard this song before, but I love it! Thank you, Paul!
I hope everyone here has a fantastic weekend!
I heard KISS in this one too, Martika. Glad you like it 🙂
Simply brilliant choice, Paul. Thank you so much for sharing this in a high quality file format. I love this track which is amazing on all LEVELS! Have a great weekend!!!
ekend :)Thank you, Martika. Have a great weekend 🙂
WOW! Paul, JUST WOW! When I read your post I thought “Never heard of that one. I´m intrigued.” And then the main melody started and it was like “Oh THAT ONE!” Great song. It reached no. 12 over here. The German cover version “Frei und abgebrannt” (“Free and broke”) reached no. 24 in the German charts and was one of the first bigger hits of a singer who ist still on tour today 🙂 What a disco way to start into the weekend. Have a great fin de semana, Paul and Jeff and all you lovely people out there.
I had no idea there was a cover version thanks for schooling me on that. I hope you have a great weekend 🙂
This is super catchy of a song. I’ve never heard of this as well. Thanks.
You’re welcome, Gilbert 🙂
Thanks. I’ll look for it 🙂
The 8:05 version is the album version.
Great choice Paul!! Like Jeff said, this is new to me too. I love their song Kiss You All Over. In my opinion it’s unique among the disco hits with its rock element and highly effective use of the synthesizer. How Could This Go Wrong is also no exception. I can see this fitting in perfectly and tearing up the dance floor, but I’m actually surprised it only reached #88 on the chart! In reality, that’s actually testament to how good music was then and how many great charting hits there were, for a song this good to be relegated… Read more »
Where else but the 80s could you hear pop, rock, disco, country, and R&B all together on Top 40 radio I have said this before it was a magical time for music. This song should have been a bigger hit but I guess at this point Disco was on its way out and their hardcore fans did not accept the change. I hope you have a great weekend, Retro Hound 🙂
This was really fun to hear, Paul. I had loved their, “Kiss You All Over” record and wondered what really happened to them after that. I love that you gave us a Disco song that is pretty much new to me. I do like this one a lot and it’s a perfect flashback to when Disco was indeed everywhere. You are always thinking outside the platform shoes, Paul. Thanks for giving us something different than the same old same old. I got a kick out of the video with the hairstyles and fashion choices from way back when. Very cool!!… Read more »
“Kiss You All Over” is one of my favorite country/rock songs in the same vein as The Eagles. Exile did go on to have at least Ten #1 Country singles throughout the 80s and 90s. Have a great weekend, Jeff 🙂
This was a moderate hit reaching # 24 in the German charts in 1979
as “Frei und abgebrannt” (= Free And Broke) by Bernhard Brink.
Thank you for the info, Christian I did not know the song was covered.
It was a time when *everyone* was doing a disco song. Rod Stewart, the Stones, Ethel Merman…
The ads in the trades were headlined “How Could Disco Wrong?”
We found out.
(I still enjoyed this tune and spun it at the club where I was working at the time, but it never caught on otherwise.)
It is a shame it did not catch on it is a pretty good Disco romp. 🙂
