Eighth Wonder – I’m Not Scared (US 12″)

Thank you so much Paul! Have loved the Pet Shop Boys version of this song for many years. Until this week, had no idea that this Patsy Kensit/Eighth Wonder version existed! Saw a clip of her performing it in Azzedine Alaia (assume it was Alaia, given that it was Patsy Kensit, and 1988). Instantly wondered of DJ Paul T had the dance remixes….and here we are. You are the best. Without you, my dancing, my music collection would be nothing.

Been a lurker here for ages Paul, and just want to say a terribly belated ‘thank you!’ in general fr your incredible rips, and in particular for this one. A really great song that i remember with huge affection from my teenage years – so lovely to hear it again in its longer mix.

So grateful for everything you do! 🙂

Greetings from NC Paul!! I really miss you and BTG. I’m glad I can stop by courtesy of my In-law’s house and check to see whzt’s going on. Getting here was fun because Karen and i made a couple of discs chock full of your phenomenal rips!! You really don’t know how much they affect me positively and their sonic quality is absolutely gorgeous!! Our ears lap up the delicious analog wave forms. They are perfection!!! I first heard about Eight Wonder via a Razormaid Box Set. The record was haunting and became an instant favorite. It was cool finding… Read more »

The full name of the track called Baby Baby (Dusted Mix) is Dusted (Acid House Mix) on the U.K. CD single of Baby Baby.

Thanks for posting this. It’s a fab track.

One thing that puzzles me though is that the track named as Baby Baby (Dusted Mix) actually isn’t Baby Baby at all but a non-album original track called Dusted on the U.K. CD single of Baby Baby I own (effectively Dusted is the flip or B-side if you like).

Baby Baby is a totally different track and Dusted sounds nothing like it although it is still a great track and one that I played more than the main track!

I love all the singles from the album, but this one was my favorite. I remember when Lethal Weapon 2 came out, I had to go see it just for PK.

Really loving this post Paul. “I’m Not Scared” is one of my favourite songs from the late 80’s and always loved the video too! I like both versions by Eighth Wonder and the Pet Shop Boys, Patsy Kensit was perfect as the lead singer for the band, and also great in Absolute Beginners (1986) with David Bowie. People in the UK growing up in the 70’s and 80’s will remember her most for the Birds Eye’s Frozen Peas TV advert and various television and film roles, Patsy was married to Dan Donovan of band Big Audio Dynamite, Jim Kerr, lead… Read more »

Patsy did like to ‘Level up’ her pop star husbands every so often.

The “Long Euro Mix” seems to be what we had over here as the “Disco Mix”.

Yes, I wondering about that! It seemed to sound very similar, and the track lengths are almost identical. Sublime, whatever title it’s given though.

Coinicidence? Or quick work after I requested it? Either way this is awesome. Many thanks.

Awesome. I don’t suppose you have the 10″ version (or an alternative pressing with the 10″ mix on?)

Her vocal delivery reminds me of Stacey Q.
Classic record, though I totally missed this one when it came out.
To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this 12″ before. Thanks making this record shine. One of my favorite PSB songs.

I think I have some of these mixes already (it gets harder to keep track as old age creeps in!), but I am delighted to see this posted, just for the gorgeous sleeve artwork alone. Especially the rear cover….oh my days…and the funny thing is, I didn’t even take much note of her visually at the time. I must have been blind! As for which version is best, EW or PSB, I can’t choose. They are equally perfect. PSB add some menace to the song with the elongated intro and outro, but Patsy’s breathy vocals are pure sex-kitten loveliness. You… Read more »

Thank you Paul. I only have the standard German 12inch so I am especially grateful for the Louie Vega remix. Totally unknown to me and I love it.
I liked “Cross My Heart” and “Will You Remember” as well 🙂

Classic from 1988! Remember it as it was yesterday. Even literally the comment a female MTV reporter said after the video: she’s rather sexy, isn’t she?

Wow! PSB, Little Louie, Tony Maran, and Phil Harding all on 1 12″! Not to mention Patsy Kensit who was incredibly gorgeous in Lethal Weapon 2!! I was and still am a sucker for women with short hair.

Thanks, Paul!
