BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983
“Rain” is a song by New Zealand band Dragon released in July 1983 as the first single ahead of their seventh studio album, Body and the Beat (June 1984). It is co-written by the group’s brothers, Marc and Todd Hunter with Johanna Pigott, Todd’s then-domestic partner. “Rain” peaked at number 2 and stayed in the Australian Kent Music Report singles chart for 26 weeks. The song reached number 88 on the United States Billboard Hot 100 charts in mid-1984. For the original single version the group’s Kerry Jacobson had provided drums and percussion; he left the group in September 1983 and was replaced by Terry Chambers, who is shown in promotional material including cover art and music videos.

Hola DJpaul, muchas por compartir este excelente maxi, saludos del Perú!
🙂
Good stuff, don’t forget that the new drummer Terry Chambers was previously in another band – XTC, one of the all time great UK bands. He’s now returned to England and he and Colin Moulding from XTC have formed a band called TC&I – one EP released so far.
Sadly, I didn’t get to comment yesterday about this awesome record, so I’m doing it first thing this morning. Just wild about this song and remix! It’s such a pleasure in how you showcase not only the artists, but the remixers as well. One can certainly search on your site to find all their favorites because of how you are so organized Paul. John Luongo is an incredible force. He goes all the way back to disco records, but it’s the stuff he did for the rock/new wave genres is where he really shines in my opinion. I was not… Read more »
Missed you yesterday Jeff. So happy that you commented today 🙂
Another new discovery for me, i love the dub on the flipside. Great stuff from John Luongo as ever.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Mark 🙂
I only had a bad vinylrip of this for years, so thanks for the ipgrade!
You’re welcome 🙂
Actually a dang cool song, I had a crappy copy of it and appreciate this upgrade. Yeah, good enough I come out of the woods to comment.
I am glad that you decided to comment Low OiL 🙂
thanks! I have never heard this version before. its pretty rare I don’t think this has been released on cd.
You’re welcome fitzysbuna 🙂
Yessss! An unobtainable one in my wishlist. Thank you so much Paul for this kiwi rarity. If you ever plan a kiwi week, do not forget “The Body Electric”.
If I do a Kiwi week I will remember Walter. 🙂
Great Choice!! 👏👏👏👻💪
Was a huge hit here in my country!!
All the best Paul
Thank you Cdman. All the best 🙂
This is one beautiful song. To sing it aloud while driving, don’t you agree?
Hugs and a big thanks, Paul.
Ezequiel
You’re welcome Ezequiel 🙂
WOW really great find there Paul. That song has been in the back of my mind for years. I had no idea they were KIWI !
Thank you Kaex 🙂
Wow Paul you’re on fire this week! Now that’s a great find for me. Never heard this song before. I even wasn’t familiar with this band. The Luongo remixes are awesome. He really made a great job on these 80’s singles. The more I listen to it the more I love it. Thank you so much Paul for introducing me to Dragon.
I really hope that you like it, Daniel. I love all of the bands from New Zealand and Australia 🙂
I love it Paul. Just looked a bit about the works of Dragon on Discogs and Youtube. They had really great stuff. I wonder if you have more singles by them. You’re right Paul New Zealand and mostly Australia had great bands in particular in rock music. Even Grant Stevens the singer of “The Window Speaks” is coming from Australia. It’s so good to discover “new music” with great remixes. It’s all thanks to you Paul.
