Donna Summer – All Systems Go (US 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987

REQUEST

Produced by Harold Faltermeyer “All Systems Go” was the final single from the Donna Summer album of the same name. Edited from its original album version, it became a minor hit in countries such as the United Kingdom, where it reached number fifty-four. In the US the single was only released as a promo 12″ single and failed to chart despite a remix by Bruce Forest.

David Geffen’s response to the commercial disappointment of All Systems Go was to assign Summer to work with the Stock, Aitken and Waterman production team whose dance pop singles were dominating the UK charts and who had had US success with Bananarama and Rick Astley. Ultimately Geffen, after misguiding her career and fatally misjudging her material since 1981, dropped Summer from the roster rather than release the resultant Another Place and Time. The album was picked up for release in the US by Atlantic Records in 1989. Ironically, Geffen Records had misjudged once again as the album would be a bigger success than her previous Geffen Records release All Systems Go. Another Place and Time had provided Summer with one final solid commercial success and her last top ten US single, fourteen years after the release of her first top ten hit “Love to Love You Baby” had hit the charts.

Thanks for the re-up DjPaul. I’m still in a bit of shock. Donna was certainly my first “dance music diva”

And with Donna Summer, Stock Aitken Waterman released one their best albums ever. Shame they never did it again.

As it goes, a new album was in the works but Donna and PWL had sort of a falling out, so the album never materialized. So Lonnie Gordon was asked to step up to the mike. Imagine the song “Happenin’ All Over Again” and “If I Have To Stand Alone” with Donna on lead vocals. The album would have been another global smash for Donna.

Another 12″ and Winner!
Thanks Paul, and Happy weekend!

Can I ask a question on the 24 bit Flacs? Are we able to burn them as Audio onto CDs? or must it be onto DVDs?
I tried adding some files using dbpoweramp but the files take up more time than it should. So an 80 minute blank CD could only take about half the time for these 24 bit music.

Thanks for the link Paul!
Can I ask how you listen to your 24 bits files? via your XHD and PC? Or do you burn them?

Bloody Hell, I can’t believe you came through so quickly. When I begged you for this I thought I might be waiting for 6 months or more. This is the best sounding rip of this hard to find remix I’ve heard to date. I can’t thank you enough Paul, you just made my weekend. I hope you don’t mind but I’m gonna post a link to your blog in the Donna Summer forum so others can come and grab this.
Best Regards
Bob

We were waiting for this one Paul. Great dance mix. Not available on CD, but now we got a quality OM30 rip!
I own the German pressing which also contains the John Morales 3:50 edit and a different album cut (Bad Reputation). Too bad that Geffen USA didn’t fancy the radio friendly edit to include.
Nice weekend Paul and thanks for this post. Excellent!

Breakaway is awesome!
The US 12″ for Breakaway with those Paul Simpson remixes is so much better than the UK one…and unfortunately I only have the UK one

ooops, my bad…Tony Humphries it is! It is morning time here and I had just woken up.
I feel the UK PWL mixes are surprisingly not very good and drags the original down, but it was the only one imported here back then.
The US mixes I only discovered much later, but are much harder to find.
