Thomas Dolby, George Clinton, whoah! I was expecting something really interesting, but this duck song is just embarrassing 🙁 They must have been broke and smoked a lotta pot to record something annoying like this!

Yeap. ‘Don’t Turn Away’ is the stand out track here in my opinion. Thanks Paul

I just have to add that your remaster, Paul, is, by far, the best that I’ve heard of this 12″. I’ve been waiting for years to hear these tracks in this amazing quality. These mixes have been on the Internet for years in poor to mediocre sound quality (pops, clicks, static, etc.), but these remasters sound so clean and refreshing to my ears! They are extremely close to master tape quality! Nice job, Paul. Thank you, again. A donation is on your way.

Holy crap! Just a day or two ago I saw the bit of the movie where Lea Thompson performs Don’t Turn Away in a club. They seem to be showing more retro movies on the premium cable channels these days, which of course we all appreciate. I never knew her voice was ever committed to vinyl. What a wonderful little oddity!

Wow, the real jewel here is Lea Thompson’s “Don’t Turn Away”! Too bad this wasn’t given a chance at radio, as I have no doubt it would have charted. It’s the perfect type of mid-tempo groove to fill out 6 minutes. Perhaps box office deflated any plans. Oh well. Plenty of flop movies had big hit singles…Two Of A Kind, Staying Alive…

Two Of A Kind & Xanadu were the 1st 2 flops that came to mind…But while it was easy for me include 2 John Travolta films, in all good conscience I had to show a bit more respect to Olivia.

Paul: Thank you for this fantastic and amazing job of rescue of this great music of 80’s. In the past i bought some cd’s of this music, but the 12″ did not appear in this discs (except in Special Japanese editions). Addition the great majority of cd’s that have edited from 2000 to 2014 have a bad bad sound, very saturated, very compressed… We don’t listened the music in that way in the 80’s. Again i appreciate your work and congratulations.

Thanks so much Paul, I have this vinyl as well but my copy is seriously not mint. I love Lea Thompson’s performance, she should’ve sang more! 🙂

Thanks Paul. Anything associated with Mr. Dolby is awesome. Can you post Airhead or Windpower next? Many thanks.

Unfortunately, Stevie was miscredited on this. His excellent harmonica playing did appear on the LP version that Thomas Dolby sang, but this version has a harmonica sounding synth in place of his harmonica line. Wish there really was a Lea Thompson version with Stevie! Anyhow, thanks for this rip! LOVE this soundtrack so much!

Paul!! You thoroughly floored me with this release!! What a cool surprise. Although I haven’t seen the motion picture “Howard The Duck” I was very much aware of the film and how it didn’t do well at the box office at the time. I think now it’s considered a cult classic. I love Thomas Dolby, so I can’t wait to hear this rare 12-inch. Wow, what a treat. BTG presents so much “cult” dance records: our favorites and all the new favorites you help introduce to us all. I love how you are unpredictable with what you post. Gosh, I… Read more »

It is very much a cult classic, but don’t let that stop you from seeing it. 🙂 It’s much more fun than some of the reviews would have you believe, especially if you don’t mind a campy ’80s sci-fi/comedy that doesn’t take itself terribly seriously.

Thanks to The Doctor: I will seriously have to look into this movie. This song made me think of Dolby’s Cube’s “Get Out Of My Mix” which I hadn’t thought about for quite sometime. I didn’t know Mr. Dolby used this name for another studio incarnation. So great Paul is around to rescue certain records from oblivion. He really has the best taste in things. Keeps us on our (dancing) toes guessing what will be next.
