Debbie Harry – Rush Rush (Special Extended Remix) (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983

NEW 2021 transfer!
NEW Meticulous restoration!

Originally posted May 10, 2011

“Rush,  Rush” is a song by American singer Debbie Harry. Released as a single in 1983, it is taken from the soundtrack album of the film Scarface (1983).

“Rush Rush” was the first single Harry released after Blondie broke up in 1982, and was one of the several projects she worked on in between her first and second solo albums. It was Harry’s second collaboration with Italian producer Giorgio Moroder, the first being Blondie’s 1980 number-one hit “Call Me” (from the 1980 movie American Gigolo). The song was a reference to drug use, “llello” being a Spanish colloquialism for cocaine.

“Rush Rush” peaked at #105 on the US Billboard chart but became a moderate US dance hit. The single also peaked at #87 in the UK.

The song was also featured in the 2001 video game Grand Theft Auto III on the fictional in-game radio station “Flashback 95.6” (Flashback FM) alongside four other songs from the Scarface soundtrack. The song also appears in the 1986 Tom Hanks film The Money Pit.

I’m more 90s than 80s kid. However this one is another fantastic Moroder production, still sounds as it would made yesterday. I rarely dig dub mixes but this time I enjoyed both sides. Thank you, Paul for all these 80s flasbacks delivered and please more Debbie/Blondie 12-inches if possible. Regards from Russia, —alexey

Breaking-she still looks marvelous!
Made a car jam disc of the octo megamix with a Heart Of Glass UK dub mix that rocks and this should be good.
Thanks DJ Paul!

Hi Paul, this is a great post. So much of Debbie Harry’s solo output is under appreciated, I think, even that first effort KOO KOO album.

I love the extended element and more intense beat drive here, but I actually prefer the original soundtrack mix. What about you?

I’m familiar with the film, and a decent enough soundtrack, but I can’t recall ever hearing this tune outside of the theater.
Anyways, thank you Paul for this new, meticulously spiffy 2021 transfer!

Debbie Harry and Giorgio Moroder make a great musical team. Also love the rhythm track taken from another Moroder Berlin production. He must have done them very close together.

Thank you Paul for this latest “Rush.”
