Pls repost. Proto NYC freestyle type 808 drum pattern pretty much ripped off directly from Cover Girls’ Show Me that was released before this.

You can’t go wrong with a Debbie Harry song Paul! So happy everyone’s enjoying this post. Gosh, it’s been a few years since I’ve heard this one. Great to hear the late great Chep Nunez on the edits. They used to say, “Chep Nunez is down with us, funky, funky edits are a must!” I love these memories you are bringing back to my brain. It’s making me feel all warm and cozy inside. Thanks Paul!

I always preferred these Justin Strauss/Murry Elias “freestyle” mixes of this song..and the Chep Nunez edits here are terrific.

Any chance you have the very rare Debbie Harry – Liar, Liar German 12″?

Miran0019: Little known fact: Debbie Harry was the singer who originally recorded “Mind Over Matter”. It wasn’t officially released, though. It was played exactly once on Rodney Bingenheimer’s “Rodney On The ROQ” show in Los Angeles. I believe this was while Debbie was visiting KROQ doing an interview. E.G. Daily’s version is almost identical, using only a slightly remixed backing track.

I adore E.G. Daily and remember reading that Debbie did record a version of “Mind Over Matter”. Cannot recall if I ever tracked down a copy and listened to it… will do that now! <3

That’s interesting. I can’t imagine anyone else singing that song, but I’m sure Debbie would’ve killed it. Would love to hear it someday.

Awesome upload man. Debbie Harry is my favorite everything!!!
I love BOTH these AND the SAW mixes. Easy to see why this was #1!

Any chance of a re-up of Debbie Harry’s The Jam Was Moving 12″?
That would be mostly appreciated!!!

Thanks, hombre. Love this song! This 12″ single came out around the same time as E.G. Daily’s “Mind Over Matter”, and both tracks often got played together at one of the clubs I went to. They make a great combo and were so much fun to dance to. Good memories…

I know when this came out that the SAW mix was what attracted attention since that was the sound of the moment, but I always found this Justin Strauss mix to be much more in line with Debbie’s NYC sound. Thanks so much for sharing.

I had the album. Weird mix of pop disco and punk/wave. Some nasty fake clap overload on the remixes, but combined with the minimalistic appraoch of full on Deborah, utterly amusing. Thanks a lot, Paul, I only knew the main one from dancefloors and compilations. Encourage more, since her label is not 😀

Might I add applause for the stylist and photographer. This is the look Britney’s and many other’s surgeons are trying to achive for over a decade.

Love these 12″s, I think it’s my favorite Debbie Harry track ever. I used to have the cassette maxi single, too- I think it had some of the mixes from both 12″s, but it is long gone now.
