Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983
NEW 2023 Transfer!
NEW Meticulous Audio Restoration!
Originally posted July 7, 2014
“I’ll Tumble 4 Ya!” was a hit single from Culture Club’s Platinum-plus debut album Kissing to Be Clever.
The single was released only in North America, peaking at #9 in both the U.S. and #5 in Canada. In Australia, it was released in September 1983 as a Double A-side single with Karma Chameleon, peaking at #1 and receiving substantial airplay. With this single, in America, Culture Club was the first band to have three Top 10 singles from a debut album since The Beatles. Much like the group’s two prior American hits, this song was aided by a hugely popular MTV music video.
++ Of note this remix of “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya!” was omitted from the recent Japan Deluxe Re-issue of “Kissing To Be Clever”.

Thank you! As a wee lad, this used to be my favorite Culture Club song. However, I cannot say that is true any longer as there are too many from which to choose these days with their discography along with George’s solo works and Jesus Loves You project (which I think is stunning and could have really soared to dizzy heights with the proper support! They were virtually unheard of in the U.S.) and I really like much of the recent stuff such as “It’s Easy” and a newer solo track, called “Frantic.” Sorry, I am prone to TMI at… Read more »
Another blast from the past with the Culture Club. Good times! Most of the time when I visit BTG and I’m reminded of tunes I’d long forgotten. Other times, I’m only just now getting acquainted with all the fab music I missed back then. And when the time comes for me to leave BG, I always leave with a tune in my heart and a longing to return to the 80s. To me, the 80s was a simpler time (or maybe that was only my perception). But compared to the global and existential challenges we’re facing in present time, sometimes… Read more »
Thanks Paul. My box of Boy George & Culture Club CD’s just arrived from Japan. This is the cherry on top. Thank You!!!
Mis-spelling of “Mikey Craige” on the back sleeve. 🙂
Thanks Paul – fabulous song. Didn’t get released in the UK, as I’m sure you know!
The undisputed KING of the mash-up, Steinski, was sampling this in 85 !

Many thanks Paul.
ACTUALLY, it was 84 !
Hi Paul,
Just noticed a noticeable speed decrease compared to CD version I have.
It’s 4th track “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya (US 12″ Mix)” from “Culture Club – Collect – 12″ Mixes Plus” CD.
It’s the same exact song.
Put both your 24bit FLAC and CD one to Audacity underneath each other and you’ll see.
The vinyl rip gets slower over time…up to 0.75seconds roughly at the end for this song.
I love your site, the music, how meticulously you do things and all, so I thought I give you a holler.
Maybe this is something worth double-checking.
Erkan
This is my favourite version. I still have your previous 2014 rip, can’t wait to hear the 2023 remaster.
Thanks Paul 🙂
I hope you end up preferring the new rip, Marco 🙂
Yes, sonically there is definitely an improvement. I guess this is not surprising however given your equipment now.
Thanks again.
Paul, you’re psychic again! Just heard this over the weekend and here you go posting it!! I cannot wait to hear this new rip. You just are so good in getting these old twelves sounding like they just rolled off the presses!! Gorgeous and stellar fidelity!!! You MASTER, YOU!!!
Jeff
Thank you, Jeff 🙂
Fun! And another rare one in that they did not include it on a recent remaster! Why can’t record companies ever get reissues right?! LOL thanks again
You’re welcome 🙂
