Corey Hart – Boy In The Box (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

“Boy In The Box” was the second single released from Canadian singer Corey Hart’s sophomore album “Boy In The Box”.

After his first album, First Offense took off, the photogenic and often brooding Corey Hart was often compared to James Dean in the media. For his second album, he wrote “Boy in the Box” about Dean, and what it must have been like living in the public eye as if he were being observed in a box. Hart often felt the same way, as he found his sudden fame overwhelming at times. “Boy In The Box” reached #4 in Hart’s home country of Canada and #26 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 on November 2, 1985, after spending twelve weeks on the survey.

Corey is so much more than his bloody “Sunglasses”. Love BITB with its fun remixes.
I wouldn´t mind a couple more gems from him 🙂

Awesome! Thank you Paul! I love me a bit of Corey and this album was probably his commercial pinnacle.

I didn’t realise “Saloon Talking” (as he pronounces it in the song) was the b-side.

Also figure that “Never Surrender” (the BIG hit from Boy In The Box) didn’t have any remixes, as ballads at the time seem to escape the remix fix (Save A Prayer, etc.)

Corey looks very much like a professional hockey player here as befits his Canadian roots. Thanks for this.

Thanks for the great rip Paul! Any more Corey Hart or fellow Canadian Bryan Adams will be more than welcome! Loving the recent string of pop/rock uploads here. Keep up the great work! Best to you.

Hi Paul

I don’t believe Corey Hart had much impact here in the UK,
but I’ll happily give this a listen 🙂
I’m only familiar with “Sunglasses At Night” (the Tiga cover version),
which I think he wrote (?)

Nice start to the working week. Thank you Paul 🙂

I’m reading this post thinking “how the heck do I know Paul Sabo and Rusty Garner?! I know they remixed something else from the early 80s!” Yup…the smash hit Break My Stride: https://www.discogs.com/Matthew-Wilder-Break-My-Stride-Remix-Version/master/277536

They also remixed a few other Matthew Wilder releases…some of which are on Paul’s site: http://burningtheground.net/category/matthew-wilder/

Thanks for the rip, Paul!!
