Dear Paul,
I was jumping with joy when I found out you posted this along with the credit card remix on the other post. It’s so hard to find these gems with good quality audio. Unfortunately the links are dead. If it’s not too much hassle for you, I’d be really thankful if you can re-upload them again. Thank you in advance. 🙂
Hi Kardi all Commodores links have been fixed 🙂
Paul, thank you SOOO MUCH!!! You just make my day 🙂
You’re welcome Kardi 🙂
great song…i do remember “janet,” as well as this one! thanks!
Paul, you listed “Serious Love” in the tracks for this record, but it didn’t come through for me in the download. Is it just on the credit card mix?
Hi Gina it should be there it is on both singles. You might have to re-download it.
I’m happy to see this on here…..it’s a great song but rarely remembered because of its chart position and the fact that The Commodores’ music after Lionel Richie left is barely talked about except for “Nightshift”. Excellent job with this one, Paul…thank you very much for it.
By the way, does anyone remember their song, “Janet”? I think it may have been the follow-up single to “Nightshift” and unfortunately, it peaked at #87 on the Pop Chart. Excellent song, though. Does anyone know if there was ever a 12″ single released for it?
Hi Dan,
A 12″ for “Janet” was released here in Europe but there wasn’t an extended version on it.
Great song though…
Thank you for that info, Trikke. I’m not sure why a record company would release a 12″ single of a song without putting at least one extended version of it on there, but apparently they did in the case of “Janet”, I guess. I even checked Ebay and there are a few people selling the 12″, but they didn’t list the times of the songs. Oh well…..
But thanks again for the info!
Here’s the tracklisting of the 12″

Maybe the instrumental M+M mix of nightshift is interesting on this release.
If you want the album version of Janet I recommend the double “Commodores gold” compilation cd:

Thank you!
Paul Thanks again for sharing these gems.
my pleasure Guss.
Great to have the two 12-inches together…thanks Paul. Now here come the nerdy stuff 🙂 I just found out that there is another mix that’s not on the UK and German pressings. I’ve got it on a dutch compilation cd called Dance Classics volume 35&36. (http://www.vinyl-masterpiece.com/dance-classics-p-1389.html) It has the exact same timing as the credid card mix (7min15) but sounds completely different. After a bit of web surfing I’m getting the impression that the european and US credid card mixes are different versions but with the same timing. The credid card mix you posted sounds to me like an M&M… Read more »
Trikke thanks for the info.
Yes, my same thoughts, that’s why I was under the impression that there are three different 12″ remixes. So Trikke’s explanation solves the mystery.
Just like Dan Hartman’s I Can Dream About You, where there are 3 different 12″ remixes too. Levan, Jellybean and M+M.
Nonethelss, it’s awesome to have another remix of this, Paul. Love your treats as always!
Aaah…Dan Hartman’s “I can dream about you”. Now that brings back memories…
I’ve got it on a 1984 12″ with the Jellybean mix on one side and Levan on the other. The M+M mix was released later (I think 1987).
Maybe a suggestion Paul ? 🙂
I will see what I can do as far as the “I Can Dream About You” mixes I know that the M=M mixes are on the “Get Outta Town” 12″ from the movie Fletch.
