Wow, Paul, you’ve been on a roll this past week. One day I was reminiscing with Whitney Houston and suddenly there’s a slew of 1986 RB releases that need my immediate attention. A nice “problem” to have, to be sure.
A mere “thank you” can hardly suffice, but it’s all I’m able to manage at this point in the month. Cheers!
I adore this song! Clearly inspired by Jam And Lewis’ work. I would love to see more DeBarge getting the BTG treatment. The Bad Boys album from 87 had some great singles with mixes that are difficult to locate. Thanks a million… as always.
You’re welcome 🙂
Thank you very much Paul!!
You’re welcome 🙂
I had no idea there was a 12” version. I have the album since release and still play it regularly.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome 🙂
Thanks for the great rip, Paul! Although not a giant hit back then, I remember it well and always loved the beat! It’s very similar to Jam & Lewis and Janet’s Control album. I also could have sworn there was a Dub of this but after scouring Discogs apparently, not. 🙁 My favorite memory of this track still after all these years is the inclusion in the Ultimix 1986 Flashback Medley. Here is the link and the song comes in about 20 seconds later. 🙂 Thanks again, Paul!! https://youtu.be/lSlFQMoObdQ?t=504
I thought you might chime in on this one, Fred really glad you like it. I was really surprised this did not get more mixes or even make it on to the dance chart. Thanks for the Ultimix link 🙂
And the smiles keep coming!!! Oh Paul, I was filled with an exhilaration when this came into my screen!! I immediately started to sing it right away. This was a personal favorite of mine, back in the day. Still, I’m quite surprised that the song didn’t get much higher or well-known like I think it deserved. The track was massive in New York. Our dance music station at the time, Hot 103.5 did something extraordinary with the record. Although there wasn’t a thing specifically called a “mash-up” at the time, Hot 103 had a mix that would incorporate Janet Jackson’s… Read more »
Thank you, Jeff I loved when they would do those mix shows back in the 80s they were so creative. I also appreciate your enthusiasm very each record I post it’s great that you broaden your mind and are open to even records you are not familiar with. 🙂
lol correct! It looks exactly like a DeBarbe lol
