One of my favorites. Pleasantly surprised it had a remix. But shocked to find the real name of the song. I thought he was singing “It gets so lonely.” Makes a good musical joke but the double entendre makes it rather inappropriate as a name given the context of the song. Can’t believe they actually did that. Is that his real name or did they put the Sex in that as well? 😮
SO COOL! I absolutely have always loved this song since my sister bought his album tape back when it was new! So jazzed to hear the remix!!!
you is the best
paul all well? you have this: https://www.discogs.com/Stevie-B-If-You-Still-Love-Me/release/669058 thanx
Thanks, Paul! This is pairing well with the Flesh For Lulu “I Go Crazy” rip and the rest of the excellent Some Kind of Wonderful record.
Do you have the other single from Some Kind of Wonderful, like the extended 12″ of “Brilliant Mind” by Furniture? Or Lick the Tins’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love” 12″?
“Beat The Lonely Monster”? Mix? Seriously? LMAOOOOO!!! I happened to catch that. Looks like a wink at masturbation. So funny. Maybe I have a dirty mind, but the name of this remix is hilarious. I love this song by the way. Thanks for posting Paul. Charlie Sexton was so hot. I also wanted to mention… that I noticed your rips are sounding amazing. Such an improvement. I remember I got so much flack awhile back for writing about the sound quality. But I can hear a clear improvement in sound now. Sounds amazing. It must be new equipment your using.… Read more »
Fantastic, thanks Paul!! An underrated gem!
Thankfully we have you Paul to give us something positive today. I’m with Jeff. These remixes are outstanding. The dub mix is even better. I’m not so familiar with Charlie Sexteon. Gotta check his other works. Thank you so much Paul. You saved my day.
You’re welcome, Daniel. At least we are not dealing with totally bad news today I am feeling optimistic 🙂
This comes as such a wonderful surprise (and gift!!) Paul. Definitely one of my favorite songs from the 80’s and the remix is outstanding!! I never had the 12-inch, but luckily was able to purchase an import CD with the mixes a couple of years ago. I’m just enthused because I know your rip will even sound better than the CD version. Many, many thanks Paul!!
Hugs,
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff 🙂
Thanks, Paul! I never heard this on the radio since it was #17 for 3 weeks straight (plus I presume it was lower on the charts for a few weeks).
This song is the background music at the part of the movie when Duncan comes back and kicks some butt. 🙂 I’m interested in hearing the mixes! Thanks, Paul!
p.s. I was in love, love, love, love with Mary Stuart Masterson back then. 🙂
You’re welcome, Fred. I need to watch the movie again to see where the song fits in. Hope you like the mixes 🙂
