“Loverboy” was the second single from Billy Ocean’s 1984 album, Suddenly. It was produced by Keith Diamond and reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (behind “Careless Whisper” by George Michael) as well as hitting number 20 on the soul chart, and number 15 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1985. It also reached the top spot of the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the U.S.

Thank you SO MUCH! Billy Ocean’s ‘Love Girl’ s one of my all time fave ‘happy place’ songs. Usually when I make playlists I place this and Teena Marie’s “Loveboy” back to back – the contrast always makes me smile (& dance!)
Maybe this track has one of best intro among 12 mixes of that year.

You are the Sanctuary of Dub Versions Paul!! Thank you for all these incredible mixes. And although a lot of record buyers consider them just DJ tools, there’s so many of us who love the dub mixes as much if not more than their A-Side counterparts.

PAUL!!! Just logged in and saw this single and it really made my day!! It’s funny, but when I first saw your Billy Ocean selections a few years ago, I was surprised that this single wasn’t there.
