Belouis Some – Some People (The Population Boom Boom Mix) (UK 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

“Some People” is a 1985 single by British artist Belouis Some, from his 1985 debut album Some People. The song reached the Top 40 in the UK, peaking at #33 on the UK Singles Chart in April 1986. In the U.S., the song reached #67 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This extremely rare UK 12″ promo contains the commercially unreleased “Population Boom Boom Mix” which I suspect is an unused Steve Thompson & Michael Barbiero remix with edits by Bruce Forest although they are not credited on the labels. The b-side “Dub Version” is the same mix that is found on the Uk and US releases of the standard 12″ with edits by Bruce Forest.

No producer or remix credits are listed on this release. The b-side is a plain white label.

Three in a row! Paul you’re under fire this week! I love Belouis Some and “Some people” is my favourite single. Of course I never heard about this rare remix. Just listening to it, this mix blows me away. It’s brilliant. Thanks to you Paul this hidden treasure sees the light of day. This is the main reason why Burning The Ground is so important in my life. Only here I can find the unexpected. I can never thank you enough for all the joy you give me.

My favorite track by Belouis Some! Never heard this mix before, so that will be fun. As Jeff so rightly states, the remastering of the original CD and extras was atrocious. Thanks as always Paul!

Looking forward to hearing this version. I liked the mixes from the US 12″ you posted last year.

Cheers Paul 🙂

Thank you Paul. I always liked Belouis Some and wish he’d had a bigger career. How many of his singles do you have or plan to post eventually?

Karen and I love Belouis Some Paul!! We’re both thankful to you because you have rescued their 12-inches from bad remastering. Plus, in your hands, these mixes shine brighter than diamonds. Can’t wait to hear this mix because you only select the best mixes. I am thrilled for this Paul. Karen’s on a business trip but I know she’ll be blown away when she hears it.

Many thanks,

Jeff
