SUPER Classic! The instrumental of this song was always played at “bailes” and radio shows! Only many years later did I pay attention to the lyrics. And I don’t even know if I understood the meaning of the thing…
Grato!
Interesting! I love “Yes, I’m Ready,” so am intrigued to hear this.
Thank you so much Paul! The first time I heard this song is in Jennie Livingston’s “Paris Is Burning”. In the documentary, this song is playing from a boom box at the Christopher Street Piers, while Venus Xtravaganza is lighting a cigarette. Talk about synchronicity – The Criterion Collection announced a few hours ago that they will release a special blu ray edition of “Paris Is Burning”, with many extras, in February 2020. Paul, your timing is cosmic!
You’re welcome, Blair. I am so excited about that Criterion blu-ray I cannot wait until it comes out. I first heard this track at The Wreck Room in Oklahoma City around 1986 of course it has already had it’s run on the dance chart but it was a staple at that club. Really fun times.
I have the Vocal Mix on one of those Street Sounds LP releases. I don’t remember the additional mixes here though.
Can’t wait to hear these mixes!
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Marcus 🙂
yesyesyesyes!! Thanks so much for this Paul. This is sooo much better than all digital versions floating around. You killed it. Have a great weekend and again thanks so much.
You’re welcome, Frank I always loved the track so it was a pleasure working on it. Have a great weekend 🙂
This was a guilty pleasure of mine and I’m so glad you posted the full 12-inch of versions. Ben Liebrand made the song available on his “Grand 12-inches” series, but with you Paul, you give us the full record. Another reason I sing your praises.
Have a great weekend Paul and the BTG Community. I’m still swooning over the Jaya and File 13 posts!! Thank you Paul for the discoveries and re-discoveries all year long. I’m eating up the Electro you’ve been posting as of late. I’m all about the big, brutal and butchered beats!!
Jeff
As I mentioned below this has always been a favorite of mine. It’s got it all attitude and groove. Have a great weekend.
Oh goody goody goody. The weekend has arrived (for me, that is) and what better way to start it than with this fantastic groove. I love it. I don´t thin k I know the rap version but in a few minutes I will 😉
Have a great weekend, Paul and everybody. Now get up and dance 🙂
One of my all-time favorite jams I have loved this song ever since I first heard it at a club in Oklahoma City around 1986 or so. I hope others enjoy it too. Have a great weekend Song And Dance 🙂
