“Since I Fell For You” was the debut solo single by American actress, singer, former model and talent manager Apollonia Kotero. She is best known for co-starring in Prince’s 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer in the girl group Apollonia 6.

“Since I Fell For You” was the first single taken from her eponymously titled first solo album, Apollonia on Warner Bros. Records. On December 17th, 1988 “Since I Fell For You” peaked at #6 on the U.S. Billboard Club Songs Chart after spending ten weeks on the survey.

Thanks, Paul! This is another example of a track that seemed to chart well (nationally) but I have never heard of it. It sounds like a club-only song…something we would never hear on the radio. It did peak in mid December after 10 weeks…so that also explains a lot: most songs released after October 15 pretty much don’t do well…whether that is charting or sales. Everyone is in the holiday spirit (very much including the Labels as they release their 6 billion Christmas albums) starting Nov 1 and it doesn’t end until mid January where the music industry then transitions… Read more »

Fred, again, I love that you’re here to comment on Paul’s postings. You have such a knowledge and all and you’re a fantastic writer. Cool that you used to work at Columbia/Sony promotions. Love it!! I always care about songs that got very close to the top of the dance charts. Just Awesome. And of course there are Thompson & Barbiero mixes which make it extra, extra, EXTRA SPECIAL!!!
