Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983
Vinyl-only U.S. Mix
“Don’t Talk to Me About Love” is a song by Scottish new wave band Altered Images, released as the first single from their third album, Bite. The single reached the top 10 in three countries; number 7 in the UK, and number 6 in both Ireland and New Zealand. The song was their last major hit, as the next three singles only had moderate to minor chart placings (“Bring Me Closer” was their last single to make the top 40 in the UK and Ireland, peaking at numbers 29 and 17, respectively).
The U.S. Mix is exclusive to the U.S. and Australia. To my knowledge, this 6:10 version has not appeared on CD.

correct – this US 12” mix has never been made available on CD or digital, even on the 2 CD reissues of the LP, they only included the UK 12” mix and an intermediate 12” edit from a “Best Of”
I own this record, also the UK 12″ remix (8min28sec). I wouldn’t call this a remix, as it is actually the album version that goes on further with an instrumental extension. For me, the UK 12″ is a way more powerfull mix. One of my two favourite singles from “Bite”. The other one is “Bring Me Closer” (nice dance-number with catchy melodies) I bought this U.S. 12″ of “Don’t Talk To Me About Love” a couple of months ago, so MANY THANKS, Paul, for saving the trouble of ripping and restoring it! The only vinyl rips I trust and like… Read more »
Thanks Paul for giving us an ‘Altered Images Of Heaven’ weekend!
Thanks Paul

I have always loved this song since I discovered it on this compilation album https://www.discogs.com/master/1677757-Various-Dance-Rap-83
Awesome rare 12” once again! Thanks for a fun launch to the weekend!
You’re very welcome, ING. Have a great weekend 🙂
I just have to add, this sounds amazing, and how the record should sound, to me this is the “real” version.
Thank you, Joey I appreciate that. 🙂
This is great, I’ve been meaning to dig my 12″ out for a while, my first Altered Images single, I remember that I bought this from an old guy who sold records out of his house! Not labeled as a remix, at the time I didn’t know it was a remix, much later I discovered that the UK 12″ was a different mix. This one is pretty obscure, thank you Paul for another treasure.
It seems none of the releases for this song mention that it is a remix. I think I found this one in a used bin for $2 I am glad I grabbed it. Have an awesome weekend, Joey. 🙂
I don’t remember this U.S. Mix, but it is one of my favourite singles from the band. Although they did release some other catchy singles too around that time.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Marco 🙂
Amazing share, thanks! I have the 7min version but never seen this one!
Do you have the proper eight and a half minute version?
Eight and a half minute version is on the Deluxe CD re-issue of the album “Bite”. There is also an 11-minute version released on a South African 12″.
Hi Paul. Not heard about the SA 12″ before, but I’ve been caught out before and bought stuff off discogs that looked to have exclusive mixes on and it was just an erroneous listing. Have you heard it? Personally, I think the 8:30 one goes on a bit so adding another 3 minutes on won’t do it any favours!
I have not heard it Simon I saw it on Discogs while researching this post. Here is the link .

Ah, the early 1980’s really helped to influence my tastes in music. After being an aficionado of Disco first, then discovering the diverse musical palette from international bands which led me to this obsession with New Wave and synth-wave music. Paul, you are certainly clicking on all the right boxes for me. I also love that some of these records have vinyl only mixes too. I am literally gobsmacked when it comes to your musical knowledge and diversity too. I feel I’m a bit older than you, but you “eclipse” me when it comes to encyclopedic history of music. Not… Read more »
New Wave is my favorite 80s genre and is the foundation of Burning The Ground. My taste is varied but I would post New Wave every day if possible. I am so happy you like it as much as I do, Jeff 🙂
I esp. like your taste for the alternative side that also was the 80s, rare and forgotten gems that made it such a distinctive musical decade.
Thank you Jeff and Paul!! Have a great weekend to you and everyone else here!
