Whitney Houston – Love Will Save The Day (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988

a-front

“Love Will Save the Day” was the fifth single by American singer-songwriter Whitney Houston from her second multi-platinum studio album Whitney. The single was released in July 1988 by Arista Records.

“Love Will Save the Day was produced by John “Jellybean” Benitez and features Roy Ayers on Vibraphone (Vibes).

At this time, Whitney Houston had achieved a record-breaking string of seven number-one hits, with four of those #1’s from her current album “Whitney”. “Love Will Save the Day” did not become Houston’s eighth consecutive number one, but continued her trend of hit singles by peaking in the US Top 10. The #9 peak on the Hot 100 was Houston’s lowest solo peak up to this time. The song also made the Top 10 without an accompanying music video.

Houston had stronger performances on the charts prior to this song but it did remain in the top 40 for 11 weeks, and reached #5 on the R&B Chart, and #1 on the Hot Club/Dance Play Tracks.

Internationally, the song mostly saw less success except in the United Kingdom, where it went Top 10 and Switzerland, where it went Top 20. It was a moderate hit in Germany, making 37; and was a minor hit in Australia, peaking at 77.

Awesome classic Whitney tune.

Still very sadly missed!

I’m so pleased I got to see her on her final tour.

Thanks Paul. Is the title a message to all voting today over there?!

This has prompted me to have a bit of a Whitney morning and play your 2009 remix collection again.

A question on that…what is the source of ‘Houston Megamix (The Orangefuzz Remix)’. I can find no mention of it anywhere apart from your collection??

Also, do you have the I Belong To You promo with the 2 UK mixes and the 2 69th Street mixes?

One of my all time favorites of Whitney. This song has such a positive and great energy. I never understood why this single didn’t have more success. Maybe because it was one of the last singles from the album ‘Whitney’. Thanks for this great post, it’s Whitney at her best.

When you’re feeling down and out
And you’ve got troubles on you mind
Love will save the day
When you’re feeling full of doubt
And fear has got you in a bind
Love will save the day

What else remains to be said?!? Nothing! Love that song, loved Whitney then.
Thank you Paul.

Amazing Paul!
This is an incredible song with a great production by Jellybean,
that I always loved but I missed the 12″.
Hope to complete it also with the extended remix (6.55)
also remixed by Rik Wake & Richie Jones
and with the US promo version by Jellybean & Morales (if you got it).
Respect.
Good Election Day.

Please make donations if you feel DJ Paul is contributing and giving us the opportunity to explore the treasures from the world of the 12″. It is a library of rare items seldom found on any collections of 12″ compilations. DJ Paul should get a job making CD’s for the record industry. He is doing astonishing job in remastering vinyls. Record companies should consider in giving this guy a sallary for the job he does.

Best Regards
Dejan
