Hi, I’m from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and this song reminds me A LOT the summer of 1989 / 90 (South hemisphere), when me and my friends spent that whole season listening to that White Lion record – not only this single, the whole record. One of them even learned to play some of theses songs on the acoustic guitar, including Wait, of course, to get on the chicks on the beach. Great times, great memories. Thanks, Paul T!
You’re welcome Chico! Thanks for sharing your memories with us 🙂
YES!!! This is the one I was waiting for… you are AMAZING; thank you SO MUCH!!!
You’re welcome Gene! Happy to do it 🙂
Paul, you and me both. Was never quite into metal or hair metal for that matter…but the odd single did catch my ear. This is one of them, partly because it has that unique melodious edge absent in most of its contemporaries.
This I also thought was better than their biggest hit When The Children Cry, which followed the more typical Metal ballad route.
Thanks for the extended, which I never knew existed!
Hi Ric, as I listen to this song more I really like Mike Tramps vocals. The b-side album tracks are pretty good too.
Thanks Paul! Great post and great mastering.
BTW:
Can you please upload Nik Kershaw – Wide Boy?
You’re welcome Sandbird 🙂 I’ll seew hat I can do.
Wow, this is a surprise. An extended mix of “Wait”? Who knew such a thing even existed?
This takes me back to the mullet-filled days of junior high, to be sure. I had the first couple of White Lion releases on vinyl.
Great post.
You’re welcome Josh. I remember I hated this kind of music when I was in High School. I was a Duranie and love synthpop. While most of my classmates where into metal. Now I appreciate it and like it alot 🙂
Same here, although I think I appreciate it now in a different way than my classmates did in the ’80s. For them it was very “hard” and deadly serious music, and the bands making it were brimming with a kind of intense machismo that my friends all wanted to emulate. They had an endless reserve of derision for whatever light, “gay” music I was into. Hard to believe now that a band more-or-less in drag, singing straight-up pop music in a nearly operatic style, could be considered hard or serious. Angsty guitars, massive reverb on the snare, and a rebellious… Read more »
Thanks, Paul.
Interesting to see a track from the group fronted by fellow Dane, Mike Tramp.
Mike Tramp started his career in Denmark by taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 with his group Mabel and this happy little ditty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IilXVjX19Js
Then went to the US and the harder sound of White Lion.
The latest few years, he has been back in Denmark, occasionally playing with his old mates.
Full circle 🙂
You’re welcome GariKuba! Thanks for the info 🙂
Thanks!
I never heard tebore , but is great!!
