Wham! – Club Fantastic Megamix (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983

A. Front

Re-Rip Newly Remastered!

Originally I posted this one on June 24, 2011. But for those who may have missed it or if you are a new reader just discovering BTG. I decided to give this one a new rip with my newer Ortofon Super 30 stylus. This 12″ is also being posted in 24 bit flac for the very first time!

“Club Fantastic Megamix” was a single released by Wham! in 1983, and was the last single release for the duo on Inner Vision Records. The single was released three months after Wham! had begun proceedings to leave the label, and was disapproved of by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. The single, which consisted of a mix of the tracks “A Ray of Sunshine”, “Love Machine”, and “Come On” off the album Fantastic,  reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. The single was not released in the US.

Hi. I re-downloaded them but i think the tags are still wrong. Don’t know what ID3 tags are but when i click on file it reads 1. Club fanastic 2. A ray of sunshine but when i play them on my VLC media player they both come up as Club fantastic!

Lol, I haven’t seen this much excitement since that Bananarama week you held a couple of years back. 😀 The funny thing about this release is that I totally don’t remember it coming out, or ever really hearing it. I’m surprised it got so high in the chart, I assumed it hadn’t charted. maybe coz the boys didn’t promote it so much as it was more an Innervision money spinner. BTW, just a note (not a complaint!) the ID3 tags are wrong for track 2 of both the mp3 and flac – both say Club Fantastic Megamix, not A Ray… Read more »

Not only the boys didn’t promote this single. They even came out publicly to ask Wham! fans NOT to buy this single because they won’t be getting anything out of it. It was a very bad contract George had signed. And they were paid GBP 40 a week despite all those hit singles and that mega selling album. Also, this came out during the Christmas month, and with all the Christmas single rush, it got swamped by the Top 5 releases like Only You – The Flying Pickets, Love Of The Common People – Paul Young, My Oh My –… Read more »

Would be great Paul. That release is totally unknown to me, and maybe to more BTG’ers as well.

Thank you for this re-rip, Paul. So nice to be able to add this one to our collection of Wham! 12 inches in Paulity. Next will be ‘Wake Me Up’? I do hope you are able to use the US 12 inch pressing, because that B-side does only contain one track: the instrumental. The European B-side pressing contains 2 tracks, on which the rare instrumental is the second track and thus has the least quality. The first track by the way is a mono version of ‘A Ray of Sunshine’ recorded for The Tube. But because it’s mono, it’s not… Read more »

Superb Paul, I am thanking you in advance for a terrific upcoming Wham! week. Hope the instrumental Wake Me Up does sound perfect, being the second track on that B-side.
For now: have yourself a great weekend. You worked hard this week.
