BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
R.I.P. Alex Trebek 1940-2020
“I Lost on Jeopardy” is a song by “Weird Al” Yankovic from his second album, “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D, released in 1984. The song is a parody of “Jeopardy” by The Greg Kihn Band, released in 1983, and its refrain “Our love’s in jeopardy”. The parody’s lyrics center on the game show Jeopardy!, and features a guest vocal from Don Pardo, who announced for Jeopardy! from 1964 to 1975.
The song was released just prior to the revival of Jeopardy! in 1984, though contrary to popular theory, the revival was already in the works and was not inspired by Yankovic’s song.
The song peaked at #81 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Classic theme, next to the video it caused me a lot of laughter. thanks
In 3D is my favourite Weird Al release. Thanks for this.
It is with profound thanks Paul for this record. My immediate family love the game show and its host, Alex Trebek. It’s so sad that he’s gone because he was so much a beautiful human being who did so much with charities and all. We all feel so very emotional because of Mr. Trebek’s passing. This is a lovely tribute to the man and his legacy, albeit in a fun way. Mr. Yankovic is a genius in his own right and it’s great that BTG is showcasing one of Weird Al’s famous parodies. It was so weird too because I… Read more »
If there are any more Weird Al remixes in your vault… bring ’em on! This is gold!
I guess Weird Al’s recreation of hit songs in a humorous way take over original ones in memery. Thank you DJPaul for sharing this great hit song.
lovely paul. just a lovely tribute.
Thanks Paul, congratulations! You’re the best
Thanks Paul. I forgot about this one. Great tribute.
You’re welcome, Joey 🙂

You’re welcome, Fred 🙂
Another brilliant hommage by our dear friend DJ Pault. Alex Trebek just left us forever.
I hadn´t heard ILOJ for ages before I received the post on my smartphone on my way home. It´s so funny. Maybe not Weird´s greatest work but I love it anyway.
Over here Weird more or less flew under the radar. “Eat it” and “Fat” were quite popular but most of his work remained unknown. That´s such a shame.
It’s also a shame that dim-witted people instantly misinterpreted Weird Al’s Christmas At Ground Zero to be offensive for the events of 9/11/2001 when the song had been recorded and released in 1986. On the East Coast it was relatively known and received airplay for years until 9/11/2001. Give it a listen sometime, it’s hysterical in both the lyrics, the sound effects, and the instrumentation. It’s been almost 20 years and sadly nobody will touch this song with a 10 foot pole.
That is a shame Weird Al created a lot of fun tunes that need to be heard just to get a laugh 🙂
