They released a 7″ version of this song as well that includes a re-mix version on the b-side. I have been unable to find the track times on those tracks.
I was never a big fan of the Village People as Disco and this genre came around before my teens when I became interested in music. Even so, I’d heard of the Village People. While I wasn’t a fan, I’d always admired the Village People’s performances and catchy songs. They genuinely looked like they were having fun on stage and playing to the crowds, and that sort of vibe is infectious for their target audience. And now, decades after the fact, I’ve become “hip” (in my own uncool way) to acts like the Village People, The Culture Club, et al.… Read more »
I didn’t even know this existed! I can’t wait to hear it. Thank you!!!
Oh my god ! This is one of the rarest singles of this band ! A kind of Christmas gift before Christmas ! A Big thank you for this jewel !
After this one, the 7″ will be the latest of the unreleased things from them…I Still don’t know why it was only issued in Australia… but anyway , I ‘ll pleasantly listen to it !
Dj Paul T rules !!!
Ever track down the 7″ versions of this song? Thanx
Thanks for this, Paul. Is there an original “unremixed” version of this song? Randy Jones & David Hodo were gone a long time before 1988.
“It´s fun to stay at the (Burning The Ground), it´s fun to stay at the (Burning The Ground), They have everything for (mankind) to enjoy. You can hang out with all the boys.”
Sorry about that 😉 “Living in the wildlife” just put me in a freakishly good mood. Never heard that one before. I hope my neighbors from across the street enjoy it as much as I do – they certainly had the opportunity to listen to it Friday evening 😉
Thank you, Paul. This is just great.
I love it! Thank you Song And Dance it’s also good to see you my friend 🙂
Hey Paul,
This track reminds me of the San Fran track but with a more rock edge to it. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
You’re welcome, Kent 🙂
Thank you Paul for sharing this track.
This is going to be a great listen to add to my collection of Village People albums and singles including two sealed copies that I picked up a month ago of their self titled album and Go West. I transferred Go West and the self titled gets done this weekend.
Lots of pains taking work to do these but we both enjoy doing this.
Yes we do both enjoy it. Have a great weekend 🙂
I remember seeing the “Sex Over The Phone” 12″ single in ’85 but I had NO idea this existed! I’ll have to check it out. Thanks Paul!
You’re welcome, Barry 🙂
Wow ! Didn’t know this single even existed. Thanks Paul
You’re welcome, Steven 🙂
Disco Friday returns to BTG!! Very cool Paul. I was wondering what you might follow the Nitzer Ebb single from yesterday. This caught me off guard, but I do love the Village People so my interest is piqued. Are there edits on the flipside? That would be icing on the cake for me and my fellow Editheads from around the globe.
.
Thanks for this week’s music Paul. So happy you’re back!! Have a fantastic weekend and all of you BTGers too!!!
Jeff
This record is so fun! Not really disco it has a bit more edge and maybe new wave influence fun edits and Tarzan yells. Hope everyone checks it out if only to escape for twenty minutes or so. Have a great weekend 🙂
This is absolutely fantastic! Thank You! This is one of the last with to me what was the iconic line up and a really fantastic song. Victor Wills did really wrong by them. Thank You for this rarity. Glad You’re well and back.
