BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983
“Je T’aime (Moi Non Plus)” translated to I love you (me no more) is the second 12″ single released by New Wave Synth-Pop duo formed in Leeds, England in 1981. The duo consisted of two members, English/French singer Josephine Warden and keyboardist Brian Moss. The duo began as backing vocalists for Soft Cell, then known as the Vicious Pink Phenomenon.
“Je T’aime (Moi Non Plus)” was recorded in 1982 at Ric-Rac Studios Leeds West Yorkshire, and was produced by Dave Ball. When “Tainted Love” hit number 1 in many Countries, Dave Ball had to commit himself 100% to Soft Cell. The duo then went to New York and shortened their name to Vicious Pink.

Thank you for sharing all the amazing lesser-known and hard to find 12″ singles and even some rare 7″ ones too! I had so many of the discs you placed here, but sadly through the years i fell out of passion with vinyl and resorted to easier CDs What was missing more than often are the rare 12″ singles that I had originally bought, listen to and danced to back in the early 80’s. Do try to track down “My Private Tokyo” by Vicious Pink Phenomena. I have the original 12″ single and it seems that the 7″ version is… Read more »
Been away awhile, but need to say hello and many thanks. Sorry for being so rude with my non-commenting. All the best!
merci!
Donna Summer did a Cover Version of this Song, too.
The Donna Summer version was released as a bonus 12″ single from the soundtrack of “Thank God It’s Friday” but I’ve not seen a single version this track. As for this one, it’s a very unique version and more “sauciness” than Donna’s version.
Both are very good tracks.
have a look (or an ear!) to the original version by Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin 😉

LOVE this version of the song! So glad to have a DJ Paul rip of it. Thank you.
Thanks for the new wave Paul.
Welcome back. Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for the share, have to plead ignorance on VPP, but love the 1969 Gainsbourg original with Jane Birkin. Looking forward to listening.
Thank you Paul, This is amazing. Now, do you happen to have the 12″ for “My Private Tokyo”? It is a shame they did not do a whole record with Dave Ball.
I think Pet Shop Boys were really influenced by VPP. Not only does My Private Tokyo have elements that sound a lot like the PSB hit Rent, but PSB also covered this song as well.
I have never heard of this before (but I know of Vicious Pink) I will have to have a listen. Thanks Paul. Also I hope you are feeling better. I’m sick with a cold myself.
Omg, damn auto-spell. I call for a do-over. Hahaha! I can speel I promise! LMAOOOOO
I have never heard of this before (nut I know of Vicious Pink. I will have to have a listen. Thanks Paul. Also I hope you are feeling better. I’m sick with a cold myself.
Glad to have you back in good health.
Thank you Steveasian 🙂
Hi Pault,
Congrats for you beauty work…You bring great hits of the 80s for us to enjoy them again.
I follow you 3 years ago, y aprecio mucho tu dedicación y el resultado and above all I have learned a lot of music with you!!
I would like to do a request…Please do you have this 12″…Click – Que te pasa. I have searched for a long time but nobody has been able to help me yet yet.
Thanks so much,
Milen
Apologize for some errors. my written english in not good…:(
You’re welcome Milen. I am sorry I do not have that one 🙂
I hope you’re recovered … thanks!…I enjoy your website.
cheers!
Quelle belle surprise! What a big surprise! You come back with a great post. I hope you feel good again. Didn’t know this awesome cover version and didn’t know this band. The song is a classic here in France. It was first released in 1969 and was sung by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. The song was forbidden in some countries but was a big hit in many european countries where it was not censored. Merci beaucoup Paul 🙂
Thank you for all the info on the song Daniel. 🙂
The Gainsbourg/Birkin version was banned in the UK but still topped the chart. VPP are probably best known for C-c-can’t You See, so good to hear something different by them. Thanks, Paul.
Oh Paul, it’s wonderful having you back! I trust you are feeling your old self again. Missed you so much as it’s just not the same when you’re not around!!
Man, I do know some of Vicious Pink (Phenomena), but I had no idea about the Soft Cell connection. This is too cool. I love that David Ball. So looking forward to hearing this piece of vinyl because it’s a track I don’t really know. I’m very jazzed right now. You do pull out the greatest New Wave masterpieces from the vault. Many, many thanks indeed!!
Jeff
Hey, Jeff, I love the b-side “Maniac” such a cool song that would be great for a Halloween playlist. 🙂
As soon as my eyes glanced the title and the word “France” I thought “Oh, please no! Not Jordy!”
Phew…I’m glad it wasn’t Jordy. 🙂

Thanks for the rip, Paul!
Lol always had a soft spot for “Dur Dur D’etre Bebe” 🙂
sounds interesting, the ‘moi non plus’ shouould be ‘me neither’ but what the hell it makes no sense either way
Yeah I got the translation from Google translate lol 🙂
Hey Paul,
