BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1989
As 2018 comes to a close and we begin a new year I thought it would be fun to post a set of medley’s that closed out the decade of generation X also known as the 1980’s. Hot Tracks was was an influential remix service that was known for putting together great medley’s, the two featured here are no exception with Chris Cox and J.R. Clements at the mixing helm. Both megamixes feature some of the biggest club hits of 1989.
Wishing you all a safe and Happy New Year!

Hello!
Just FYI the link is broken
Yay! Just catching up with everything BTG and like I’ve always said in the [ast, I just love megamixes and medleys such as this. Thank you and a happy new year to you Dj PaulT. Here’s to you, a healthy year and to more retro, club and 80s dance ahead on my #1 favorite 80’s music blog.
Happy new year Paul… here’t to best wishes for 2019.
Cool post, It will be fun to listen to and give me High School flashbacks. It looks like they saved the good stuff for side 2.
This looks like a total blast – music from the year I graduated college! Thanks for this, DJPaul, and have a GREAT new year’s eve!!
thanks for this contribution, you really make my day
thank you very much, sincerely
You’re welcome Julio 🙂
Side 2 remaining tracks after song 17 are not listed. Do you happen to have the names of those songs? Thanks, Sir Paul…you are the best!
Never mind, I seem to already been drinking too much! Everything’s find, move along!
What happened to the second disc Paul??
I just wanted to post the medley’s Ian I might post the other disc later.
Would be great if you could Paul. Would love to hear the ‘beat me again please’ edit.
you are awesome…thanks!
You’re welcome lietz 🙂
Thanks, Paul! This is either Chris’ first remix or very close to being his first. He worked hard for several years for remix services and then in the late 90s became part of the Thunderpuss team which was infamous for slammin’ remixes and very long remixes as well as plenty of dubs. Around 2004 he started remixing again under his full name while also remixing under Thunderpuss. Some favorites of mine are All For You (Thunderpuss Club Mix) by Janet Jackson and No More Drama (Thunderpuss Club Anthem Mix) by Mary J Blige and Escape (Thunderpuss Anthem Mix) by Enrique… Read more »
Happy New Year Fred 🙂
Three words: I LOVE YOU!!!! Oh my goodness Paul, my heart nearly stopped when I saw this. I’m still in NC, but I had to rush to my In-Law’s computer to gush and express my sincere thanks for such a gift. As you know, it was customary for the remix services to offer a mega-mix compiled of the year’s biggest hits, so since this is at the end of the current year, hearing a flashback medley of a past year is just phenomenal. Both mixes are superb, but I have the biggest ORGASM over the second mega-mix. And you have… Read more »
Happy New Year Jeff 🙂
Wow Paul, This is a treasure!! I actually listened to this on New Year’s Eve and what a great way to end/start the year!! I made a disc compiled of tracks courtesy of you, starting with “Caravan Of Love” followed by “Tell Her About It” and then “Walking On Sunshine.” And then, it was the “Concerto For A Thumping Floor” which bowled me over. I do believe this was Chris Cox’s first appearance on Hot Tracks, but I could be mistaken. What a debut he created. Even Karen said about the mix was that even the tracks she didn’t care… Read more »
this looks like fun! thanks!
all the best for 2019!!
Same to you kdh1 🙂
I’m a puddinhead, disregard previous comment except for the “Thanks” part. “Hot Tracks” name was patented in 82… Duh…
Bo worries enjoy!
Record says 1982… or my eyes are giving me trouble again (I don’t see too well now days)…
Thanks Paul…
This is good to hear again, as I have all my Hot Tracks vinyl issues in storage. Thank you Paul, have a happy and safe New Year!
You’re welcome Gianni 🙂
