Various Artists – 1984 Top 40 Medley (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1985

“1984 Top 40 Medley” is a nearly fifteen-minute medley released by Hot Tracks Remix Service in 1985 for Series 4, Issue 1 it features some of the hottest tracks from one of the best years in pop music 1984.

The medley is another well-crafted mix by the same remix trio who brought us the “Octomnipent Zeitgeist Medley (Part I & II)” which I posted back in March 2021. The trio consists of Glenn Cattanach, Greg Lee, and Jeff McKeehan. In addition, this was the first medley that the trio worked on for Hot Tracks.

Thank you for the transfer work.
If you look at the technique of Hot Track from 1984, a lot of work to mix it up. They even process their own remixes. Among other things, the “State Of Shock” remix, which I bought as an original at a flea market in Holland in the middle of the 90s.
If this is the edit version, how extensive must the long version be? :-))

So many memory triggers in these tracks (those songs that I do remember, haha).
Thanks Paul, for uploading this compilation.

Hi Paul, so excited for this megamix. Thank you. Is there a chance in the future you may post “Believe In The Beat” by Carol Lynn Townes? The Extended Version is not officially available on various artists compilation. The song is pure synth-pop heaven screaming for your magic touch. I hope you consider. Thank you again.

Thanks for the nice post, Paul! I had not heard this before. However, why didn’t you post the D side or even the A/B sides from the other vinyl (which contained a 12:00 Madonna medley)? This feels incomplete. 🙁

But I do thank you for your hard work!

BLAST OFF!!!! It is now time to cue in the ejaculatory fireworks!!! Damn Paul, you are phenomenal for posting such an epic mega-mix!!! This had the clubs screaming whenever it came on. My friends loved it so much that they asked the DJ to record a set list on cassette for them which included this jam. Even though the recording was not the best sonic quality, the miracle of this mix came through. The Trio who did this medley are sonic geniuses!! Such an awesomely amazing mix. I even appreciate “Jump” which is a sonic pun (I think) as the… Read more »
