Various – 1982 Top Tune Medley (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1982

“1982 Top Tune Medley” is a landmark bootleg 12″ released in January 1983, the record contains every song that was a club hit in 1982 regardless of genre something that was not usually done at that time period. The record was mixed, edited, sequenced and compiled by DJ LOLLIPOP (AKA Larry Anderson, Chicago) an American DJ and producer. Many of the songs in this production still pack a dance floor today – while others have faded almost into oblivion.

Everything was produced using vinyl records, turntables, a mixer, a splicing block with tape tabs
& miles of ¼” reel-to-reel tape.

I have made every attempt to meticuously restore this record however due to some of the original source records that were used for this bootleg sound quality does vary from track to track. I also want to thank DJ LOLLIPOP for sending this record to me it has become one of my very favorite pieces in my collection. I am also very happy to be able to share this masterpiece with all of you. Enkoy!

Specially Remixed & Edited For Over Forty Minutes Of Non-Stop Dance Action!

This is an amazing medley ! I never heard it before. Thanks for post this mix. I’d be very grateful if you’ll post this one Disco Break – Programming Breaks – Prince Medley.

What I admire most about you, Paul, is that you don’t just post mainstream records. I’m very happy if I can hear one or the other maxi in good quality. But I especially like things like that where you can see how limited it was back then to create remixes and megamixes. The real 80s resonate directly with this mega mix. Great

WOW! This is amazing!
Somehow my browser got stuck on your September 28 update, when you shared Stacey Q. So, for the last 2 weeks it showed me the same page without any of the new updates, and then suddenly showed everything today … lol … AMAZING UPDATES, especially this one. I always love finding these 80s Megmix bootleg vinyls!

Very excited to check this one out! Like others said, it’s hard not to smile at a DJ swinging across so many genres and styles. (Plus bonus points for this being a little Chicago history that I didn’t know!)
Slipping in a little known gem like this between hits is a good reminder of how much I appreciate what you… and a reminder to support the fundraiser! Just made a small donation, thanks for all you do.

I never heard of DJ Lollipop until now, and don’t know how I missed this one. His megamix totally encompasses the variety of post-disco 1982 dance tracks, and his choices were not always the obvious tracks associated with these artists. The Disconet medleys were pretty much limited to club tracks, often excluding the most popular crossovers. I had a weekend mobile business, a club gig, and a radio job in those days. All of Lollipop’s 1982 tracks were hits across very diverse crowds. This release deserved wider distribution as it’s a definite classic! Thanks for posting this wonderful release!

Again, Paul, Chills!!! It’s a real celebration whenever you post a megamix on your site and this one I am so excited to hear. The year of 1982 was when I really got into music. Sure, I loved Disco, but 1982 became very special because of New Wave and alternative styles of dance music. It was when I graduated high school and was to start my college life in the Fall. I was well versed in dance music genres because of 92 WKTU out of New York city. This was the year that gave us Electro and Hi-NRG was coming… Read more »
