BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
Twilight was a synth duo comprised of Erasure’s tour manager Andrew Mansi and soon-to-be Nitzer Ebb tour manager Steev Toth. Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Erasure) took the production reigns of what turned out to be the duo’s only single “Just Me Alone” released on Polydor Records in 1985. With its catchy synths and driving dance beat “Just Me Alone” could have very easily ended up as an Erasure track. The b-side “Talk To You” which is just as good as the A-side was produced by multi-instrumentalist Ian Ritchie. The duo never released a full album and disappeared into the Totally Obscure 80s.

Wow! A very rare 80’s tune. Thanks for this!! Going to wait for the 7″ Version of this tune soon.. Hopefully…
Thanks a milion!
Another lost gem. This one totally passed me by. Great synthpop. I’m struggling to see the connection with “The Company Of Wolves” as it’s definitely not on the soundtrack album. Quite what Sarah Patterson is doing on the cover is a mystery!I wonder if anyone else knows about this? Incidentally the movie is possibly the best screen version of the “Red Riding Hood” tale from Angela’s Carter’s The Bloody Chamber stories. Cheers.
Thanks Paul. I’d never heard of this one!
You’re welcome, John von Ahlen 🙂
Ooooh, now this is sexy time!! Thanks, Paul!!
You’re welcome, Cory 🙂
This is a fun one. That’s for introducing it to us, Paul!
You’re welcome, Todd 🙂
“THE COMPANY OF WOLVES”!!!
I’ve just seen the film from which the still for the cover is taken
yesterday night!!! Very scary, because it’s a “romantic” Werewolf movie
in a fairy tale style but with a good amount of gore.
I really want to see this movie now after you described it, Christian. I am a big horror buff 🙂
I think you really will enjoy it.
Another production i’m not aware of but Vince Clarke rarely disappointed. Can’t wait to hear this one later.
Cheers Paul 🙂
Cheers to you too Mark 🙂
Hi! I’m very gratefull! This vinyl is very rare and hard to get! Very Very Thanks!
You’re welcome, Elias Esser 🙂
Great one. Thanks Paul!
You’re welcome Thomas 🙂
Paul, thank the Heavens for you!!! Not only do we get to hear music that we’ve missed, but because of how your site is laid out, we can click on the ones we adore and find other records. Like yesterday’s Martin Rushent produced track and now this, a Vince Clark production. I love basking in your light. Amazing music as always. Karen’s going to love this, I think.
Cheers!
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff. I knew that this would be one Karen would enjoy 🙂
Thanks 🙂
You’re welcome villah 🙂
Hi Paul-
Can’t thank you enough for this one! I discovered the B-side on YouTube a while back and have been hoping to get a copy ever since. A real lost 80s gem. Can’t wait to see what gems you pull out next. Thanks again.
You’re welcome Ross 🙂
Again… DjPaulT filling the gaps in my never completed lossless collection. Thank you so much!
