For info, and linking with Sy’s comments above, this 12″ remix is also by Sunsonic aka Ben Watkins, who is perhaps much better known for his work as Juno Reactor. I think Transvision Vamp were a bit of a one-trick pony and I guess this is reflected in their brief burst of popularity in 89/90, but they did have some good singles, this included. Thanks, Paul!

I am stunned! I have heard of this band before, but only in name. I always did want to hear something by them, but never had the chance. You have provided me with a fantastic introduction to the band. This record reminds me of a psychedelic 60’s/70’s song. It really is a mind tripper, that’s for sure. And that flip-side has got me hypnotized. Paul, really, you are so pure in your generosity. I love everything about you. Thanks for being a wonderful and special friend.

Jeff

OMG paul thank you! in a follow up to this post, could u do the 12″ single of “If Looks Could Kill”? it has an amazing remix of “Twangy Wig Out” by Sunsonic that has never been available on CD!

For Swamp Thang they heavily sampled the starting of Ben Liebrands Extended Version of Phill Collins In the Air Tonight released in ’88. Strangely enough, no info about that can be found on the www!

Wow what a request! Thanks to whoever it was who requested it (maybe Ex15)? Love the Vamp. Do you have any more? I saw them live in 1990!

You’re welcome – I love the Vamp too! I mainly requested it because “Punky Says” is not available on CD to this day.

Thank you Paul for doing such a nice rip! 🙂

Cool, Michael. So many tracks and mixes for so many artists unreleased on CD to date. Such a bad joke! Paul, do you have any more TVV?

Just FYI: The ID3 tags are incorrect on the MP3 version; both tracks 1 and 2 have the same title and track# info in them.

No worries; I usually feed the files into Tag&Rename to redo them into my preferred tag format anyway (artists listed as “last name, first name”; bands or titles starting with “the” to have a library-style “, The” at the end; [Alternate Mix Identifiers] in square brackets, and the folder-cover JPG added into the tag as “file cover art” — the latter because it makes it easy to tell at a glance whether one of the virtual “tape decks” in SAM Broadcaster has the next song cued up in it or not 🙂 ). I just figured you’d want to know.… Read more »

I had no idea this mix carries a formal name. I have it on a CD single and it’s just listed as the “12” Version.” (But this pressing and your rip sound superior to the tinny CD version, so a big thanks).
