BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1982
NEW 2019 TRANSFER!
METICULOUSLY REMASTERED!
Originally posted April 12, 2012
“Kiss Me” is a song originally released in November, 1982 by the British band Tin Tin (sometimes written TinTin). The song was allegedly written within 24 hours after the band had signed a record deal with WEA Records. This version was produced by Bob Lamb and peaked at #155 on the UK singles chart.
The single was re-released in the US, Canada and Japan with the François Kevorkian remix in 1983. This version peaked at #13 on the U.S. Dance Chart.
Lead singer and guitarist in Tin Tin, Stephen Duffy, later re-recorded the song twice and released it as a solo single using the name of Stephen “Tin Tin” Duffy.
The chorus is based on a passage from the book Song of Songs.
“Kiss Me” was the last song to be played on BBC Radio 1s MW frequency in 1994, before the station became FM only.

Stephen Duffy was the original lead singer for the nascent Duran Duran. He and Nick Rhodes later released an album as ‘The Devils’ which showcased what the early pre Le Bon material would have been. He took the name Tin Tin from the belgian cartoon hero of the same name which has always been popular in my homeland (UK). This first release of Kiss Me was heard throughout the clubs of central England and was championed by many DJ’s at that time. It’s quite a rare disc these days and is much sought after. There are two other Bob Lamb… Read more »
Brilliant! A favorite in any version!
Absolutely fascinating – I didn’t realise there was more history to Mr Duffy’s career. Cute how his nickname was used for his actual band before joining him in his “solo” career. And it’s an interesting version of the song – almost like it’s a work in progress.
As usual Paul, every day you teach me something new. Thanks for all the amazing rips of these impossible-to-find tracks!
Thanks for this original version! Stephen Tin Tin Duffy had another hit: Icing On The Cake.
Paul – this might interest you: Phil Collins – Remixed And Other Sides Album 2019. Released last month. His 1980s material remixed.
This guy was the original Duran Duran singer, but he left the band before their first record deal. Strange that DjPaulT did not mentioned it.
I am confused (though it happens easily anymore). I am pretty sure I already downloaded this from your site (filed under Stephen Duffy) last year but the artwork with that was 1250×1250. Is this a full audio and artwork re-rip or a re-post with updated higher res artwork?
And just to make sure, I am not complaining either way as it sounds amazing and I love having the higher resolution artwork.
Sorry, ignore my post or delete it if you can. After reading the notes my confusion is no more. Doh! Thanks for the re-rip!
Now this explains it! When I first discovered your site a few years ago, I saw that you posted this song. I was elated because this is one of my all time faves. I so remember buying this twelve along with Yazoo’s “Situation” around the same time. It all led me to my love affair with Sire Records and all those fantastic records they produced in the 80’s and early 90’s. When I downloaded the song from your site, it seemed different than the record I purchased. I love this Paul. You’re always delighting me with versions/mixes I never heard… Read more »
Didn’t know about this early version. I like this dub mix. I never understood the meaning of “Tintin” in the middle of the singers’ name. Now it’s clear. Thank you Paul. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Paul.
