Thank you very much Paul.
Overall, this was my favorite TT single. It annoyed me plenty that it didn’t get a wide release as such. This deserved new mixes more than In The Name Of Love, for instance. Still, Doctor! Doctor! probably had the best synth solo of the Into The Gap singles, and I could listen to that for days, too. 🙂
Thanks Paul, as always. 🙂
(Hope you still have that Erasure A Little Respect promo 12″ in the queue!) 🙂
Sometimes charts are totally misleading. I immediately recognised the oriental sounding synth, it was on the radio all the time! Great sounding percussions in the mix, strange they didn’t released it in the UK and with a video, for sure a Top Ten hit.
Thanks Paul. Love these rarities.
Wanted to mention, the AOR version of “The Gap” sounds to me kinda like a single version/edit. Yeah? Cutting out the loop/vocal in the beggining. It goes straight in to the song without any build up. Other than that it doesn’t seem to be any different than the original album version. Anybody else notice this? Perhaps they were thinking of the AOR version as a shorter single edit, perhaps planning to release it as an official single world-wide if it did well. Hmmm
Yes, it is an edit. The middle instrumental break is shorter as well.
Awesome post!
We need more Thompson Twins.
Thanks you so very much!
This track appears on the fantastic 2014 “Remixes and Rarities” remastered 2-CD.

Omg, I love you Paul.
Seriously, this is such a treat!
I have this super-rare AOR edit on a recent CD that was released, but
having a copy of this on vinyl is really special.
I will take a vinyl rip of this any day over any digital remaster.
Not that some digitally remastered CD’s sound bad, some sound quite good.
But nothing compares to vinyl.
Thank you for this
I literally just bought this! Lol
Great track, though.
Er… AOR stands for Album-Oriented Rock, not “Adult”. 🙂
Ooh, AOR mix. I never knew such a thing existed. Thanks!
You’re welcome David 🙂
Wow love this track since i was a kid. How about a Thompson Twins week to post all you remaining Twins vinyl? If you do indeed have more to post! I’m sure you do 🙂 Many thanks and have a great weekend.
I do still have more. Have a nice weekend.
Love the Twins/Babble. Thanks!
It just hit me, that I never knew what AOR stood for. Now I do. ^_^
You’re welcome Osc we all learn more each day that we live 🙂
One certainly can’t contain the emotions that we get from your awesome posts Paul!! I love this record and it takes me back to so many wonderful times listening, dancing and collecting the 12-inches from the 80’s. You’ve created this marvelous time capsule for us to check into and forget about the world for a little bit. You really are a wonder Paul and I love to celebrate your talents!! Have a great weekend!
Jeff
Have a great weekend Jeff enjoy the tunes 🙂
“East is east, west is west”
I loved the Thompson Twins. The Gap is not one of my all-time favourites by the three
but the album is near perfect. Sister Of Mercy is “my no 1”, next to the incredible Hold Me Now, of course.
Aaaaahhhhh, the Eighties, ey? 🙂
Thank you, Paul.
You’re welcome Song And Dance. Have a great weekend 🙂
Thanks Paul for the new wave choices!
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
