BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985
“Revolution” is a 1968 song originally recorded by the Beatles, written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney.
English pop band Thompson Twins covered “Revolution” on their 1985 album Here’s to Future Days, from which it was released as the fourth and final single and includes the non-album track, “The Fourth Sunday” as its B-side. The song peaked at No. 56 on the UK Singles Chart, spending five weeks on the chart. The band made a promotional video for the single version of the song. This is one of three tracks on the album that feature guitarist Steve Stevens, best known for his work with Billy Idol.
Thompson Twins also performed the song with Stevens, Madonna and Nile Rodgers at Live Aid in July 1985.

The Fourth Sunday is something special. I’ve got this 12″ too, and it was always one of my favorites, both sides.
I remember it had particularly good sound too, like, weirdly good.
Better than The Beatles.
I’d only kill to save my life or that of loved ones, but hey, we might dance to the same music? Weird world huh?
Flies don’t usually carry vinyls to die for. But yeah, I do kill them too, sometimes. Mostly I open a door and wave a few times to drive’m out.
thanks paul,
this was a very underrated single,
and i didn’t pay much attention to it.
i liked ‘dont mess with doctor dream’s’
much better.
this is a fun song though, and steve
stevens guitar work is great. i know
beatles fans were cringing though.
its too bad, this was their last
great album. even though tom bailey
is still around now, even with new
music, its not the same. they’re missing
what made them special back then.
well, this was a surprise choice,
so keep up the good work in picking
out titles.

Haven’t listened to the Thompson Twins in a while. Thanks. Maybe this is an odd request but do you have any Skinny Puppy?
Please do go and VOTE, America. The US and the world need an American revolution before it all goes downhill. A very fine choice, Paul. And you must be psychic as I am in the middle of my Thompson Twins week. I have all the deluxe double cd editions available and have been listening to TT remixes all week. Thank you.
Thanks Paul. Can u post Watching You Watching Me next please if you have it?
It is weird, sometimes you post stuff that I totally missed or just purged from my memory along the way. Though I have probably heard this, if someone had asked me if Thompson Twins did a cover of this song, I would have said no. Nice series, though I love the song, hopefully tomorrow you aren’t posting Simply Red’s “Holding Back The Years”. Here’s to future days…..
Always happy to see a Thompson Twins 12″ !! They usually put a lot of effort into their 12″ extended mixes and remixes… More than many others who were happy to just put out a dub mix on their 12″ (of which some dubs are of course awesome). I’ve been re-listening to a lot of Thompson Twins lately. What I didn’t appreciate when I was younger; was how much an impact the percussion skills of both Joe Leeway and Alannah Currie, contributed to the band’s quite unique/distinctive sound. I now think they really took Tom Bailey’s great melodies to an… Read more »
Thank you.
To whom it may concern: The A-side (6:01) is titled 12″ Remix on the 2008 Edsel 2-CD of Here’s To Future Days. The Extended Mix (6:27) appears on the TTwins 2-CD Remixes & Rarities compilation.
You so make the world a better place Paul! Many thanks for this single. I am so happy right now.
Praising your good vibes!
Jeff
I hope that you went and VOTED today 🙂
