I love Thompson Twins. They are one of my all-time favourite bands.
There are quite a few very interesting promos like this.
Let’s hope one day you have the Feedback Max promos to post.
Thanks.
Many thanks. Wow what a surprise i’ve been talking to you about this one for some years! I’ll have to find something new to suggest and make a contribution.
You’re welcome, Neil 🙂
Hi Paul,
Still going through my collection, i see. ha ha.
i just got this a little while ago. at this rate, you
will have everything i have to. so now, there’s
one less one for me to transfer.
the thompson twins were still trying to find their
sound at the early stage, and to me it’s a little
rough. but they really started picking up when
‘in the name of love’ came out.
its interesting to hear their development though.
thanks again for the great work you do.

Good grief! These sound great! Good Gosh’s remix factor is basically its separation from Tok Tok, I think, no? The “What’s This” section is a little spaced out, too. That was done on the US LP, I believe. It’s like a different band, but once I got used to that, I fell in love with this early stuff.
By the way, Bailey’s Science Fiction is mostly marvelous. It is to the Twins what current Duran Duran is to… well, Duran Duran. It’s definitely them, also definitely now, not then. Same for the Bailey album. Musically, it’s like getting new T-Twins.
What a great discovery for all of us Paul. You certainly fill in missing pieces of artists’ discographies. Thank you so much Paul. I like the Arista sleeve too with the hype sticker. Flipping through records back in the day, whenever I saw it, I knew it had promise, like Ministry and Pete Shelley. Oh, what grand musical memories!!!
Jeff
I always thought it was a bit lazy for a label to do a stickered sleeve like this one. Now I think it’s kind of cool 🙂
Make Believe extended has a UK & Canada 12″ single.
Thompson Twins – Make Believe (Lets Pretend) (1981, Vinyl) – Discogs
Funny enough I have that 12″ but did not realize it.
Thanks Paul – I’d heard about these but haven’t ever actually heard them!
You’re welcome, Mr. Brady 🙂
Thanks Paul. I love to see TT and hope there’s more to come!
You’re welcome, Goodguy there is more 🙂
As comprehensive as the 2009 Thompson Twins Box set is, the remastering job they did on these tracks was terrible. This original-era vinyl release sounds so much better just the way it comes. Thanks for posting it!
So true! Their back catalog has not been handled well. One or two collections I have have certain tracks that sound like badly ripped cassettes amongst normal sounding tracks. I will have to check these remixes against what’s on the double disc collection from this era! &Thanks Paul!!
Great !!! Thank you very much !
It would be great if you can re-post some older Thomspn Wins songs.
You’re welcome, Peter 🙂
Another great find! I had no idea this existed.
Thanks, Dean enjoy! 🙂
