Tell Me Why is one of my favourite singles of 1987, and it ranked higher in my annual list than Boy George’s solo hits that year.
I too have the album, and thought the two follow-up singles are excellent too.
Thanks for posting Louise, Paul.
You are very welcome Ric 🙂
Wow – great track Paul! You’ll be happy to know you just introduced me to a new band with this post 😀 On a side note while I was thumbing through some of your old posts I came the Sheila E. “glamorous life” 8 minute long version which I really excited to find on here given that it is such a rare version but unfortunately much to my heartbreak the original hosting service seems to have gone the way of the dinosaurs and is now extinct lol Is there any chance of you re-upping that particular post? I would greatly… Read more »
Thanks Corey. I will try to get round to that post when I get extra time maybe a re-rip.
By the way, the sound quality is great– the upgrade is noticeable!
Thanks for letting me know Doug I appreciate it.
Seeing the cover of this for the first time, I thought immediately of the MARRS – Pump Up The Volume cover art. Obviously the same time frame, as mentioned by other readers comments. Thanks!
Hi RA Feutz you are right it does resemble MARRS 🙂
I tell you what’s really interesting about this for me… The cover seems to me to be a really early example (actually the earliest I can think of) of a sleeve and logo so obviously designed on a computer. And specifically in Adobe Illustrator – you can see its suite of tools has totally influenced/led the design. The curved type, the rotational symmetry of the logo on the front, and especially the repetition of the logo on the back is a dead giveaway – that would’ve been so time consuming before Illustrator came along. So much so that few designers… Read more »
It’s a very nice cover design very well done.
When I saw it was an Assorted images sleeve, I was surprised; this doesn’t at all have what i think of as their “look” of the period. Thinking of it in terms of computer tech made it make sense.

And DJPaul, thank you for this, until today, I had no idea “This Way Up” existed. Based on this sampling, it fits right in with that Waterfront / Giant Steps / Breathe style of pop. I’m surprised it wasn’t bigger.
Wow, I actually just got this album on CD recently, after looking for a long time. This will complement it well!
Enjoy Doug 🙂
Thank you very much Paul.
Thank you Andy appreciate you 🙂
Wow… a little rarity. This is the only branch of solo Culture Club I’ve yet to hear. Intriguing!
Thank you!!
You’re welcome Jermajesty. This is the only extended version that did not make it as a bonus track on theCD release of the album. Enjoy 🙂
You beat me to it, that’s what I was going to say! And the same goes for the remix on B side.
Thanks a lot for this post! 🙂
